AKTG: A New Global Commitment to Sustainability
At the heart of an industry in constant transformation, where the traveler’s experience increasingly intertwines with values of social and environmental responsibility, A&K Travel Group (AKTG) reaffirms its position as a leader.
With the recent initiative announced in August 2025, the group renews its commitment to sustainable luxury travel, based on direct and global consultation with its employees and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Operating in over 30 countries and managing some of the most prestigious brands in the sector—including Abercrombie & Kent, Cox & Kings, Crystal, A&K Sanctuary, and Ecoventura—AKTG demonstrates how it is possible to combine operational excellence with positive impact, redefining the very meaning of luxury travel in the 21st century.
The group’s new sustainability plan is the result of an unprecedented participatory process: a global survey involving all employees across its various offices, aimed at identifying the priorities perceived as most urgent and relevant in today’s context. This bottom-up approach not only allowed the collection of diverse and localized perspectives but also strengthened the sense of involvement and collective responsibility within the organization.
Camille Drevillon, Chief Strategy Officer of AKTG, emphasized that the initiative reflects the collective voice of the global team and the group’s commitment to increasingly responsible luxury travel. She highlighted how aligning sustainability strategies with a solid and well-established framework enables the extension of impact far beyond the simple offering of extraordinary travel experiences, concretely contributing to positive change both within the local communities served and in the organization’s daily operations.
Analysis of the survey results conducted among members of the global team clearly revealed two fundamental priorities common to all the group’s operational sites, regardless of their geographic location. The first is Quality Education, reflecting the shared belief that access to equitable and inclusive education is the foundation of all lasting development. The second is the goal of Zero Hunger, highlighting the group’s commitment to contributing concretely to the fight against malnutrition and food insecurity, especially in the most vulnerable communities.

These two themes represent not only global emergencies still far from being resolved but also areas where the tourism sector can generate a direct and tangible impact. Education is seen as the fundamental driver for the social and economic development of local communities, while the fight against hunger is an essential condition to guarantee dignity, health, and participation. Through programs such as school meal initiatives, scholarships, teacher training, and the construction of school infrastructure, AKTG aims to intervene concretely in the territories where it operates, generating sustainable and lasting benefits for future generations.
In addition to the two globally shared priorities, each of the group’s operational sites had the opportunity to identify additional Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to pursue, selecting them based on the specific needs of the territory and local opportunities. This approach has enabled the creation of a tailored strategy, capable of enhancing the unique characteristics of each context in which the group is active.
Among the most frequently selected goals are Health and Well-being, which promotes access to quality healthcare services and healthy lifestyles, and Decent Work and Economic Growth, which encourages the development of sustainable and inclusive employment, especially in sectors such as tourism. This hybrid model, integrating a global vision with local interventions, allows AKTG to structure concrete, effective actions perfectly aligned both with its corporate mission and the real needs of the communities in which it operates. It represents a virtuous balance between strategy and tangible impact.
Examples of this approach include ongoing projects such as health education programs in India aimed at improving hygiene and sanitary conditions in the most vulnerable areas; initiatives supporting female education in Peru that help reduce the gender gap; and projects fostering local employment in the tourism sector across various regions in Africa and Latin America, with the goal of stimulating fair and sustainable economic growth.

The operational pillar of this strategy is A&K Philanthropy (AKP), the group’s internal organization that has been working on the ground for years to implement high-impact social and environmental projects. AKP acts as a bridge between the group’s ethical vision and concrete action in the territories, with projects ranging from healthcare assistance to environmental protection, from building schools to promoting local entrepreneurship.
A flagship example is the school meal program active in several regions around the world, which simultaneously addresses two priority SDGs: zero hunger and quality education. By providing nutritious meals to students in disadvantaged communities, the program not only improves children’s health but also encourages school attendance and academic performance. AKTG’s new strategic direction highlights a profound transformation in the concept of luxury in tourism: from a symbol of exclusivity and consumption to a tool for connection, responsibility, and positive impact.
The integration of educational, health, and economic initiatives within the itineraries offered to clients creates a bridge between the traveler’s experience and the real needs of the visited territories. In this context, the traveler is no longer just an observer but a conscious agent of change. Furthermore, AKTG is investing in more sustainable operational practices, from reducing the carbon footprint of travel to adopting stricter environmental standards across its facilities. Every small step—from supplier selection to logistical organization—is carefully calibrated to minimize negative impact and maximize shared value.
AKTG’s initiative thus represents a virtuous and replicable example for the entire tourism sector. Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals is no longer a peripheral option or a mere gesture, but a strategic and core choice capable of generating economic, social, and environmental value. With this clear and shared vision, A&K Travel Group positions itself not only as a pioneer of sustainable luxury tourism but also as a promoter of a more ethical, inclusive, and transformative travel culture.
