Emerald Cruises: A Major Fleet Expansion
Emerald Cruises has recently announced a significant fleet expansion for 2027, following the success of Emerald Kaia and Emerald Astra, both scheduled to launch in April 2026. This growth will see the introduction of two brand-new superyachts and a new river cruise ship.
These additions mark a crucial evolutionary phase for Emerald Cruises, driven by a forward-thinking distribution strategy aimed at supporting continued growth in the luxury travel sector. The strategic expansion highlights a strong moment for the brand as it approaches its second decade, with a fleet and guest experience shaped by cutting-edge design, curated destinations, and innovative offerings.

Following the debut of Emerald Kaia, Emerald Cruises will launch two next-generation superyachts in 2027, Emerald Raiya and Emerald Xara, further strengthening its leadership in the boutique yachting segment. These new vessels will share the same elegant design language and elevated guest experience as their sister ship, while incorporating enhancements based on direct passenger feedback. Both yachts will feature spacious suite accommodations, a generous Sky Deck with private cabanas and panoramic views, as well as a marina platform for effortless access to the sea. Distinctive features include an outdoor gym, the Elements spa, multiple restaurants offering regional cuisine, and a variety of water toys such as paddleboards and SeaBobs—embodying the brand’s signature blend of adventure, relaxation, and superyacht allure. Each yacht will accommodate 128 guests and offer suite-only accommodations, with an indoor-outdoor design seamlessly connected to the surrounding sea, along with wellness facilities and coastal exploration features.
Emerald Raiya will debut in the Seychelles during winter 2026/27, then sail the Eastern Mediterranean in summer 2027 before returning to the Seychelles in winter 2027/28. Emerald Xara will launch in the Mediterranean in summer 2027, then transition to the Caribbean in winter 2027/28. Meanwhile, Emerald Kaia will reposition to the Caribbean starting winter 2026/27, joining Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara. Guests already booked on Kaia’s Seychelles itinerary for that season will be contacted to transfer their booking to Emerald Raiya. In winter 2027/28, Emerald Kaia and Emerald Xara will join Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara in the Caribbean, expanding the brand’s warm-weather yacht offerings.

Dominika Lange, General Manager Sales & Marketing EMEA, emphasized that these new itineraries will allow guests to enjoy the superyacht experience across more warm-weather seasons, offering even more opportunities to indulge in Emerald’s unique style—from the Seychelles to the Caribbean. Lange also noted that this development represents a powerful extension of the company’s boutique superyacht portfolio, with full itinerary and booking details for the new ships expected in June 2025.
On the river cruise side, Emerald Cruises is also charting a bold course toward 2027, expanding its river cruise portfolio into new and exciting frontiers. Following a decade of innovation and success along Europe’s most iconic waterways, the company is now set to introduce a brand-new river ship purpose-built for the legendary Seine River, an essential step in its river tourism growth. This new direction aligns with the brand’s broader growth strategy, aimed at further diversifying its offerings and appealing to travelers seeking unique, authentic experiences in some of the world’s most captivating destinations. The announcement follows the debut of Emerald Astra in 2026, the tenth ship in the European river fleet. The design of the new ship reflects Emerald Cruises’ commitment to providing access to exclusive destinations and delivering the kind of deep cultural connection that defines the brand.

In 2027, Emerald Cruises will make its debut on the Seine River with Emerald Lumi, a ship custom-designed for this iconic waterway. Emerald Lumi is more than just a vessel—it’s a gateway to the rich history and culture of France, offering a modern river cruising experience that strikes the perfect balance between luxury, cultural immersion, and boutique charm. Onboard, guests will find contemporary interiors, spacious suites, and a range of amenities designed to deliver Emerald Cruises’ signature experience. Purpose-built for the unique dimensions of the Seine, the ship will access sought-after ports such as Honfleur, Rouen, and other picturesque towns celebrated for their art, history, and gastronomy. This type of itinerary will allow travelers to experience the heart of France more intimately, with extended stays in select ports for deeper immersion into local traditions.
Glen Moroney, Chairman and Founder of Scenic Group, stated that the Seine represents a natural evolution for Emerald Cruises, as the river is rich in romance, history, and culinary heritage—all elements their guests cherish. The company is thrilled to bring its unique experience to France aboard a ship crafted with great care, creating a journey that harmoniously blends with the surrounding region.

With the introduction of next-generation superyachts, its first river ship on the Seine, and a visionary strategy for the future, Emerald Cruises is setting the course for continued success, with an ongoing dedication to design excellence and authentic destination connection.
This expansion goes well beyond launching new ships and itineraries; it represents a brand that is not only growing, but also actively shaping the future of boutique yachting and river cruising.
