Silversea christens Silver Dawn in Lisbon

Silversea Cruises christened its 10th ship, Silver Dawn, in the magical context of Lisbon.

An intimate and highly satisfying ceremony for the Royal Caribbean group, Fincantieri and above all for Silversea Cruises. The event marks not only the expansion of the fleet and the addition of an extraordinary ship, but also the demonstrated ability to fight the most difficult months during which construction did not stop, giving a little gem to the Silversea Cruises fleet.

Twin of Silver Moon, Silver Dawn however presents numerous interesting innovations. First of all, the launch of Otium, a revolutionary wellness program that has renewed the concept of onboard Spa. But also confirmations of exceptional products such as the SALT Program, the gastronomic choice on board and a series of unique services, which make the company the reference point in the luxury segment.

The Naming Ceremony opened with a bagpipe show and an exciting performance by the artists on board. The stage then moved on to host the management of Royal Caribbean, Fincantieri and Silversea Cruises, thus reaching the fateful moment of the breaking of the bottle. The godmother, Nilou Motamed, cut the symbolic cable that triggered the launch of the champagne, perfectly shattered on the ship’s side. The very choice of the figure as that of an important influencer in the field of gastronomy and travel, represents the essence of the new Silversea concept of awareness and knowledge of the culinary traditions of the places visited. A broad, complete and revolutionary concept of visiting new countries and getting to know their culture in depth.

“Celebrating Silver Dawn’s christening in Lisbon marked an incredibly proud moment for all involved” said Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. “I thank and congratulate Roberto Martinoli and all our team, including Captain Failla and the crew, as well as everyone at Fincantieri. Silver Dawn is a jewel of the Silversea fleet and speaks of the Royal Caribbean Group’s commitment to delivering the best vacation experiences in a responsible manner. ”

Roberto Martinoli, president and CEO of Silversea highlighted that Silver Dawn is the third Silversea ship to be nominated in the last nine months. “In addition to S.A.L.T., our engaging culinary program, Silver Dawn enriches guests’ travels with Otium, our new wellness program, inspired by the lifestyle of ancient Rome”.

Nilou Motamed, involved in the sector for over 20 years, chosen as the ship’s godmother, reiterated that “food is a language of its own, in which everyone can find comfort, compassion and community”. Her passion for culinary adventures and culinary traditions from around the world has found a perfect match in the S.A.L.T. of Silversea. “It is a great honor to have been selected as the godmother of Silver Dawn and to have attended the christening ceremony in Lisbon,” says Motamed. “Growing up in more countries has helped me recognize that one of our deepest bonds, wherever we go, is food. Like many of Silversea’s guests, I always associate my cultural explorations with culinary ones. That’s why I enjoyed seeing the world through S.A.L.T. of Silversea “.

The event ended with an excellent gala dinner on board, and the fireworks display that gave moments of emotion and optimism. Silver Dawn sets out on her maiden voyage today, sailing from Lisbon to Barcelona. The ship will offer itineraries in the Mediterranean until November, when she will cross the Atlantic Ocean, with stops in the Canaries, and reach the Caribbean and Central America.
