Carnival takes delivery of Carnival Celebration


Carnival Cruise Line‘s 50th anniversary celebrations continue and the program also included the delivery of the new Carnival Celebration, the latest ship in the Excel-class fleet, sister ship to Mardi Gras.

Carnival Celebration, the second ship in Carnival’s innovative Excel class, is stunning from the first step aboard: a three-deck high atrium, dozens of restaurants and bars spread across six themed areas, such as the Miami-inspired 820 Biscayne, The Gateway a tribute to travel, as well as the award-winning “BOLT” roller coaster. The Carnival Celebration handover ceremony was held at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland.

 

Carnival Celebration will arrive in PortMiami on Nov. 20, following a 14-day transatlantic cruise from Southampton. An opening ceremony will be held on the evening of Nov. 20, which will be a tribute to Carnival’s past as well as its exciting future. Carnival Celebration will accommodate more than 5,200 passengers and offer year-round guests sailing from Miami, itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The week-long cruises will touch destinations such as San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cozumel, Mexico and Grand Turk. Departing from PortMiami’s renovated Terminal F, Carnival Celebration will join sister ship Mardi Gras and will be the second ship in Carnival‘s fleet to be powered by a liquefied natural gas propulsion system.
