Hapag-Lloyd Cruises: Wedding in Antarctica.

A wedding in the majestic ice world of Antarctica? Now possible with Hapag-Lloyd.

Lovers can now seal their love in front of a unique backdrop. With the start of the Antarctic season, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has extended its wedding offer to the entire fleet. From December, couples will be able to tie the knot onboard the expedition ships. From clear waters to majestic glaciers and snow-capped mountains, Antarctica offers an enchanting backdrop that is the perfect setting for a wedding.

Antarctica is considered a stateless territory, so there are no territorial waters or 12-mile zones. As a result, weddings can take place onboard, in the presence of the captain, at almost any location on the ship. For example, Paradise Bay is an ideal location for a ceremony and, weather permitting, a Zodiac excursion to one of the largest cormorant colonies is possible. Neko Harbor, home to gentoo penguins, whales and leopard seals, also promises unforgettable scenery.

However, couples who decide to get married on the high seas need to plan ahead. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises requires approximately ten weeks to obtain a marriage license. A professional wedding planner will help guests arrange a customized ceremony, while the attentive crew will take care of every detail during the voyage.
