Star Flyer Reaches the Heart of Egypt
The Port of Alexandria, along with other Egyptian ports, is preparing to welcome the luxurious tall ship Star Flyer by Star Clippers on June 26, as part of an extraordinary Suez Canal crossing linking the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea through some of the country’s most iconic ports.
The ship’s arrival once again confirms Alexandria’s strategic role as the main cruise port of the Egyptian Mediterranean and a privileged gateway to the country’s historical and cultural wonders. Alexandria, Egypt’s second-largest city and known as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean,” preserves a character that is profoundly different from the rest of the country, with a strong Mediterranean influence reflected in its architecture, history, and way of life.

Star Flyer
The Star Flyer, an elegant luxury sailing ship, will offer its guests an exclusive travel experience along one of the world’s most legendary maritime routes. The itinerary continues on June 27 toward Port Said, a historic city at the entrance of the Suez Canal. From here, guests will be able to explore Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza, where the monumental pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, together with the Sphinx, stand as some of the most powerful and recognizable symbols of Ancient Egypt.
On June 28, the ship will undertake the spectacular transit of the Suez Canal, a unique experience for guests as they sail through this extraordinary engineering masterpiece connecting the Mediterranean to the Red Sea. This is one of the most iconic moments of the entire voyage, especially captivating aboard a sailing ship, where the slow pace of navigation allows guests to fully appreciate the desert landscape and the history of the canal.
On June 30, the Star Flyer will arrive in Safaga, on the Red Sea coast near Hurghada. This region is famous for its crystal-clear waters and pristine beaches, considered among the world’s best destinations for diving and snorkeling thanks to its spectacular coral reefs and rich marine life. Safaga is also known for its mineral-rich black sands and the therapeutic properties of its waters, while nearby Soma Bay is an exclusive destination featuring luxury resorts, golf courses, and numerous water sports activities.
