Quark Expeditions introduces Ocean Explorer

Quark Expeditions, a global leader in polar adventures, is pleased to announce the latest addition to its industry-leading fleet: the Ocean Explorer. This 138-passenger polar expedition ship will set sail under the Quark Expeditions flag at the beginning of the 2024/2025 Antarctic season.

“Going beyond in the polar regions requires the best expedition team operating with the finest ships,” says Andrew White, President of Quark Expeditions. “And we have both. The Ocean Explorer is the perfect addition to our fleet: for adventure, luxury, and cutting-edge technology, this purpose-built polar expedition ship is truly capable of satisfying our most discerning polar explorers.”

The advanced technology of the Ocean Explorer enhances the polar experience in every aspect: extensive adventure capabilities for thrilling off-ship excursions, outstanding safety and sustainability features, along with exceptional indoor spaces and comfort. With its distinctive X-Bow design and remarkable two-story forward lounge, the Ocean Explorer creates an extraordinary stage for unforgettable polar expeditions.

“The depth and breadth of our portfolio of innovative itineraries and polar experiences—from kayaking expeditions in Antarctica to aerial tours over the Greenland ice cap—are made possible by the depth and breadth of our fleet,” says White. “Maintaining such a diverse fleet of small polar ships allows guests to personalize their journey, choose how to explore the Polar Regions, and live their expedition of a lifetime.”

This Infinity-class polar expedition ship was delivered in 2021 by the SunStone Maritime Group, a long-standing partner of Quark Expeditions and the largest expedition ship builder in the world. The Ocean Explorer is classified as Ice Class 1A and PC6, placing it in the same category as its technologically advanced counterpart, the Ultramarine.

Quark Expeditions is currently accepting reservations for the Ocean Explorer for the 2024/2025 Antarctic, 2025 Arctic, and 2025/2026 Antarctic seasons.
