Heritage Line: The Return of Jayavarman

Heritage Line has enthusiastically announced the return of the luxurious Jayavarman to the Mekong River, after 3 years, 8 months, and 6 days of undergoing a significant transformation. The iconic vessel has resumed operations, embarking on journeys between Saigon and Siem Reap.

Indeed, the vessel underwent a pause in operations due to extensive renovations that have profoundly reshaped its character, blending French colonial elegance and Khmer style with comfort and luxury. This transformation aims to offer unforgettable voyages through the enchanting landscapes of Southeast Asia.

The extensive refurbishment of the ship includes redesigned areas in both public and accommodation spaces, accompanied by numerous technical upgrades to ensure compliance with the latest safety requirements. A highlight of the changes is the complete overhaul of the restaurant structure, featuring comfortable seating integrated with an open kitchen that will provide guests with a unique culinary experience on board.

The relaunch of Heritage Line Jayavarman has given rise to the conceptualization of culinary-themed journeys with the intention of enhancing the dining experience for guests. This is achieved through the introduction of the open kitchen concept, distinguishing the “new” Jayavarman from other vessels on the Mekong River. The restaurant has been completely redesigned to create a more pleasant dining atmosphere, with chefs cooking live and a revamped seating arrangement that includes both intimate seating and larger tables for communal use.

In the open kitchen, the culinary team will prepare various dishes live, inviting guests to observe their skills and the preparation of local and international dishes using fresh ingredients. This unique setup allows guests to learn about dishes, ingredients, cooking techniques, and more. In addition to savoring local and regional cuisine, guests can gain insights into the art of cooking, creating a richer and more engaging culinary journey.

However, the culinary adventure on board the Heritage Line Jayavarman extends well beyond the confines of the ship’s restaurant. Almost every day, guests will have the opportunity to participate in cultural tours along the Mekong shores or engaging food-themed outings, all at no additional cost. These culinary excursions provide guests with a glimpse into regional cuisine, local food, and recipes at each port of call.

In addition to the restaurant, public areas have also undergone a transformation, featuring refined furniture and settings. All cabins have been meticulously renovated, with Superior cabins now offering more space thanks to new furnishings and additions, and suites improved with both new furniture and an expansion of living space. Furthermore, the ship now has an additional pair of connected cabins in the Deluxe category (and another in the Superior category). Technical areas have been significantly upgraded with the addition of generators, an updated AC system, and a new engine, providing a much more comfortable overall cruise experience.
