Uniworld Sets Sail on First World Cruise

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has launched its inaugural “Rivers of the World” voyage in Cairo, completing the first leg of the 46-night journey. The itinerary is the first of its kind for Uniworld, taking guests to nine countries onboard five luxurious super ships that combine cruise and land travel.

The itinerary includes exclusive experiences and surprises, such as the opportunity to visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum before it officially opens to the public and a welcome ceremony hosted by surprise guest, Uniworld President and CEO Ellen Bettridge.

“I am thrilled to be in Egypt for the first leg of our inaugural world tour and to welcome our fabulous guests on this unforgettable voyage with Uniworld,” said Ellen Bettridge, President and CEO of Uniworld Boutique River Cruises. “Egypt is the home of the first river cruise and a natural starting point for our journey. We enjoyed two days in Cairo and a great week on the S.S. Sphinx along the Nile, and that’s just the beginning.”

With voyages onboard four ships in eight other countries, guests will cross the Mediterranean and fly to the Swiss Alps with two nights in the lakeside city of Lugano, followed by two nights in Milan before boarding the new S.S. La Venezia for a weeklong cruise along the Venice Lagoon. Next, guests will travel to Hungary and sail on S.S. Maria Theresa from Budapest to Passau through the heart of the former Holy Roman Empire; in France, guests will board S.S. Joie de Vivre and explore the best of northern France along the Seine River; and complete the itinerary in Portugal, starting in Porto with a cruise on S.S. Sao Gabriel through the Douro River Valley, followed by a three-night shore stay in Lisbon and the closing event.

By popular demand, the second Rivers of the World voyage for 2024 is now available for booking. The 2024 voyage is even longer, taking 68 guests on a 55-day itinerary that spans three continents, 10 countries and four luxurious super ships, including Uniworld’s new destinations of Argentina and Brazil.

Uniworld’s Rivers of the World itineraries are all-inclusive and include all meals onboard, unlimited wine, beer and premium spirits, Wi-Fi, excursions, scheduled airport transfers, gratuities and flights between cruise segments. The voyages also include a dedicated Traveling Concierge who accompanies guests throughout the voyage and assists with any needs they may have.
