Prince Rupert Cruise Port: A Record-Breaking Season

Prince Rupert Cruise Port, located on the northern coast of British Columbia, concluded an extraordinary 2025 season marked by significant milestones, a strong increase in passenger traffic, and increasingly solid collaboration between the local community and the cruise industry. The year ended with 68,443 passengers, underscoring the destination’s growing appeal along the North Coast.

Outlook for 2026 is even more ambitious: projections estimate over 150,000 passengers—more than double this year’s volumes. This leap positions Prince Rupert among the region’s most dynamic emerging destinations, strengthening its role as a strategic port of call along the Alaska route.

The 2025 season also saw important developments on the cruise line front: Royal Caribbean International made its debut in Prince Rupert, while the port celebrated two notable inaugural calls with Holland America Line’s Noordam and Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas. These arrivals highlight the growing diversity of ships and brands choosing this unique destination.

Steve Finnigan, General Manager of Prince Rupert Cruise Port, emphasized the exceptional nature of the past season, noting how the entire community mobilized to provide authentic and memorable experiences for visitors. He stated that the enthusiasm and appreciation expressed by guests foster a strong sense of pride and cohesion, key elements as the port prepares for the substantial growth expected next year.

The success of 2025 is measured not only in numbers but also in the quality of experiences offered. Through a wide range of shore excursions, the Prince Rupert community shared local traditions, flavors, stories, and natural wonders with visitors. From Indigenous cultural experiences to regional culinary specialties, from adventures along the wild coast to encounters with the Great Bear Rainforest’s natural heritage, guests had the chance to discover the authentic essence of northern British Columbia.

2026 will mark a further step forward: Virgin Voyages will arrive in Prince Rupert for the first time, with 11 scheduled calls, confirming the industry’s confidence in the destination and its ability to provide a unique and engaging experience along traditional Alaska itineraries.

Prince Rupert Cruise Port, part of the Global Ports Holding network, continues to establish itself as a prime gateway to the pristine landscapes and rich cultural heritage of northern British Columbia. Situated in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest, the port combines modern facilities, efficient services, and a strong commitment to sustainable tourism, contributing to local economic development and strengthening its reputation as a must-visit destination for travelers worldwide.

With a growth-oriented vision that values the local territory, Prince Rupert is preparing for a 2026 season that promises to be the most significant in its history.
