Nassau Cruise Port Celebrates Sixth Anniversary

Nassau Cruise Port proudly celebrates its sixth corporate anniversary, reinforcing its role as the world’s leading cruise transit port and enhancing the visitor and Bahamian community experience through a series of impactful innovations.

This milestone comes at a crucial moment of growth and development for the port, which continues to invest in modern infrastructure and outstanding services, affirming its vision of Nassau as a premier cruise and tourist destination in the Caribbean.

Since completing its $300 million redevelopment, Nassau Cruise Port has welcomed millions of visitors and established itself as one of the most dynamic and frequented ports worldwide. The 2025 anniversary is not just a moment of temporal celebration but an opportunity to showcase the latest improvements and projects enriching the port’s offerings. Key innovations include a new waterfront pool, marina expansion, and a state-of-the-art ferry terminal designed to facilitate transfers to the Royal Beach Club currently under construction on Paradise Island.

The new pool complex provides a relaxing oasis for tourists and cruisers, while the marina expansion will accommodate more yachts, supporting local commerce and enhancing the city’s tourism appeal. The ferry terminal ensures smoother passenger flow and convenient transfers, improving access to nearby attractions and strengthening Nassau as a strategic Caribbean cruise hub.

Mike Maura, Jr., CEO and Director of Nassau Cruise Port, emphasized that this milestone represents much more than just the passage of time. According to Maura, the anniversary confirms the port’s commitment to continuously enhancing guest experiences, supporting the local economy, and creating new opportunities for Bahamian citizens. In its first operational year in 2019, Nassau welcomed approximately 3.85 million cruise passengers, while 2025 projections anticipate over 6 million visitors. Investment of $350 million in the downtown waterfront underscores the port’s vision to establish Nassau as a world-class cruise and leisure destination.

To celebrate the anniversary, NCP has organized a series of internal and external activities highlighting its team’s work and showcasing current investments in the local economy, including job creation, opportunities for Bahamian suppliers, and cultural showcases at the port.

The recently renovated Nassau Cruise Port is much more than a gateway to the Bahamas: in 2024, it welcomed 5.6 million passengers. The port features six berths capable of hosting the world’s largest cruise ships, mega-yachts, a new marina, and a modern excursion and ferry terminal. The waterfront, enhanced through a $300 million investment, offers over sixty shops, new dining venues, the Bahamas Museum of Junkanoo, a wine bar & art gallery, and a 3,000-seat amphitheater showcasing top local and international performances. Other innovations include an iconic arrivals terminal, new posts for the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Defence Force, and a land transport area ensuring smooth and efficient taxi and tour operations.

Nassau Cruise Port’s sixth anniversary is therefore not only a moment of celebration but also an opportunity to consolidate its position as a leading cruise port and cultural hub in the Caribbean. With modern infrastructure, new visitor and community services, and a forward-looking vision for the Bahamas’ economic and cultural development, NCP continues to offer memorable, authentic experiences to millions of cruise passengers each year, affirming Nassau as a world-class cruise and leisure destination.
