Havila Voyages: Zero Emissions in the Fjords

Havila Castor sailed in Hjørundfjord with zero emissions for the first time a few days ago.

Captain Bjorne Ivar Pedersen was in command and said he was very excited when he reached the fjord aboard Havila Castor for the first time after having visited it many years ago.

In less than four years, all ships that sail in any Norwegian heritage fjord must do so completely emissions-free. However, Havila Voyages decided to meet this requirement in advance; both Havila Capella and Havila Castor sailed through the fjord without emissions this summer.

Havila’s goal is to use batteries in world heritage fjords and in all appropriate locations.

It is no coincidence that the first of Havila’s new ships, Havila Capella, has earned the prestigious “Next Generation Ship Award 2022” award, making Havila Voyages on of the greenest navigation companies in the world.
