Windstar Cruises: Rome to Experience

With its new winter itineraries in the Mediterranean, Windstar Cruises is offering its guests unforgettable holidays with more intimate explorations, providing the opportunity to delve deeper into cities and undoubtedly view them through a different lens.

With its Legendary Winter, offering exclusive itineraries from December 2023 to March 2024, Windstar gives all guests the chance to discover iconic ports such as Barcelona, Spain; Nice, France; Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; and Rome in a completely different light aboard the Star Legend, an all-suite ship that can accommodate a maximum of 312 passengers.

The Mediterranean in winter certainly offers a unique perspective on these destinations, precisely because it avoids the large summer crowds, providing more personal interactions. Guests can make the most of their time to explore the cultural treasures, gourmet delights, and captivating history of Spain, France, and Italy.

One of the cities that unquestionably offers a rich cultural heritage, usually not fully experienced 360 degrees, is Rome. Seeing the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica, and iconic Roman monuments like Piazza Venezia, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, and the Trevi Fountain, all immersed in history and culture without the buzz of the crowd, is undoubtedly a travel bonus. Additionally, an overnight stay in Rome is planned, allowing for multiple onshore excursions, each dedicated to a different part of this wonderful city with numerous attractions.

Guests can also choose to book an organized tour to make the most of their time in Rome, including:

Rome on your own, lasting 7 hours, ideal for those who have already been to Rome and can decide what to include in the day and which panoramas of the eternal city they want to see! The bus will take guests to the heart of the city, offering 4 hours for exploration and perhaps even shopping.

Vatican City tour, to discover the beauty of the enchanting Vatican City with its collection of artworks from every era, such as the impressive masterpieces housed in the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo. Of course, there will be a visit to the magnificent St. Peter’s Square, followed by some free time for lunch and shopping.

Tuscan and Etruscan Flavors, on the other hand, is a tour to discover Tuscan and Etruscan flavors with a stop at Cantina La Parrina, including a visit and a typical Tuscan lunch. The tour then continues with a trip to Tarquinia, the UNESCO site closest to the port city of Civitavecchia, and above all, one of the most interesting villages in the Etruria region.

Windstar Cruises is redefining the concept of winter travel in Europe, making it a season of 360-degree discovery. Currently, the company is also offering a special offer, “Pick Your Perk,” for guests booking 14 days or less in a Premium Suite, which includes a free upgrade to the all-inclusive rate and a $200 onboard credit per guest.
