Guernsey: all cruises to St Peter Port in 2022

St Peter Port, the capital of Guernsey, is one of the most picturesque ports on the Northern European cruise routes and is an outstanding location for cruise ship calls.

April 15 will see the first ship touchdown with the arrival of Hapag-Lloyd’s Hanseatic Spirit. With quality port services, professional handling arrangements and a warm welcome, Guernsey has earned its enviable reputation and sees cruising as a great way to introduce the island to visitors. Cruise call numbers will return to pre-pandemic levels this year, with an even stronger return expected in 2023.

Guernsey’s cruise ship season will run through October with the last call scheduled for October 25 by Norwegian Star. Ships that will transit there include MSC CruisesMSC Virtuosa, Cunard‘s Queen Victoria and Ambassador Cruise Line‘s new Ambience.

With so much to explore and experience across the islands, it’s no wonder the islands of Guernsey remain one of the most popular ports of call for many cruises around Great Britain, Northern European itineraries and even repositioning trips from the Mediterranean. Some smaller cruise ships also visit Alderney, Herm and Sark during the season.

The number of people who will be able to board has been restored to that of pre-pandemic times, and capacity will increase further in 2023. Of course, measures have been introduced to protect health and safety on board; for example, passengers will be strongly advised to take a quick test before going ashore.

A VisitGuernsey spokesperson commented, “We look forward to welcoming our first cruise ship passengers in over two years to St Peter Port this summer. Cruising is an important part of our tourism economy and we continue to invest in our service offerings to cruises, including the reception process, disembarkation and an extensive and diverse shore excursion program. We are committed to ensuring that passengers not only create lifelong memories while visiting the islands, but also want to return for a longer stay.”
