Exceptional care on the part of the Holland America staff.
Limited Dining options of variable quality. mediocre entertainment.
We took a cruise around South America. The itinerary was exciting, and we had good weather throughout. I was traveling with a mobility scooter rented from Special Needs at Sea, Holland America's vendor. I had problems with the scooter, which the staff on board was quickly able to fix. Unfortunately I also contracted Covid and was quarantined for several days. The staff took excellent care of me, with special cleaning crews, daily medical attention, and special meal service to my room. Their kindness went beyond all expectations. The ship has a limited number of dining options--only two specialty restaurants. The main dining room and Lido buffet had some exceptional meals, but often was somewhat ordinary. Still we felt well fed. The two specialty restaurants were very good, Canaletto being the better of the two. Room service was available 24 hours at no extra charge. The ship's crew and staff were helpful, attentive, and unfailingly pleasant. They made this cruise a pleasure.
