Description
Akademik Shokalskiy is the sister ship of the Spirit of Enderby. Built in 1984 for polar and oceanographic research, it is 71 metres long and 13 metres wide and can accommodate up to 48 passengers. It offers comfortable accommodation in double cabins, about half of which are en-suite. All the cabins have exterior windows or portholes. Onboard there is a combined lounge bar/library area and a dedicated conference room. The cuisine is excellent and is prepared by top chefs from New Zealand and Australia.
The real aim and emphasis of each expedition is to bring guests ashore in the utmost safety and comfort. Expeditions are accompanied by some of the most experienced naturalists and guides, who have dedicated a lifetime to field research in the areas being visited.
