TUI Cruises celebrates the baptism of Mein Schiff Flow

Accompanied by a spectacular ceremony and an impressive stage production, Mein Schiff Flow, the second vessel of the InTUItion class, was christened in Trieste during an evening full of emotions.

Amid the applause of thousands of guests, the champagne bottle shattered against the bow of Mein Schiff Flow, officially marking the entry of the new ship into the TUI Cruises fleet. The christening represented a completely new milestone for the company. For the first time in TUI Cruises’ history, three women – Julia, Annabelle, and Karin – shared the role of godmothers of a new ship. Together, they symbolically represent the diversity of the company’s guests and the many personal stories that connect passengers to the Mein Schiff world. For the occasion, they wore elegant couture dresses selected by Guido Maria Kretschmer.

For this special event, Mein Schiff Flow embraced its inaugural motto, “Go with the Flow”, transforming into a vast experiential space dedicated to music, art, and shared experiences. Guests were able to move freely between different themed areas, experiencing the ship as a fully immersive festival.

On the Mistral Deck, interactive art projects and collective works took shape, while the theatre was brought to life with audiovisual installations, immersive light effects, and artistic performances. Thanks to live connections between the various locations, the entire ship became a unified stage. After the gala dinner, guests gathered at different panoramic points and public viewing areas to follow the ceremony with views over the city of Trieste.

The live performance, lasting approximately twenty minutes, connected all areas of the ship into a single scenic experience. Musicians, artists, and performers guided the audience on a journey of images, sound, and movement. From the Pool Deck to the Agora, from Blaue Flora to the bridge and the bow, Mein Schiff Flow itself became the stage for the show. Light, water, music, and acrobatics created a captivating production that embodied the concept of “flow” as a symbol of lightness, connection, and continuous transformation.

Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, emphasized that the christening of a new ship is always a particularly meaningful moment, filled with emotion, pride, and anticipation. With the introduction of Mein Schiff Flow, the company expands its fleet with a vessel that represents a new way of travelling, based on lightness, encounters, and the freedom to experience cruising at one’s own pace. She also highlighted that the decision, for the first time, to appoint three godmothers represents a strong symbol of the diversity and closeness that guests associate with the Mein Schiff brand.

Among the most anticipated highlights of the inaugural voyage were the concerts by Rea Garvey, performed on 19 June, and Tim Bendzko, who headlined the christening day on 20 June. The programme was further enriched by numerous artists, speakers, and experts from the worlds of art, dance, wellness, and lifestyle, including Maren Kroymann, Christian Awe, Linh Nguyen, Tim Raue, and the dance duo Erich Klann and Oana Nechiti.

Live music, art installations, dance performances, and creative outdoor activities contributed to a vibrant festival atmosphere that accompanied guests well into the night.

With its christening, Mein Schiff Flow begins its first season in the Mediterranean, where it will operate 8- to 10-day cruises in the Western Mediterranean, sailing roundtrip from Palma de Mallorca with itineraries calling at major ports in Italy, Spain, and France. A distinctive highlight of the programme is an overnight stay in Palma de Mallorca, offered either at the beginning or end of selected cruises, allowing guests to experience the lively Balearic city at a more relaxed pace. During the winter season, the ship will reposition to Northern Europe, sailing from Hamburg and Kiel. Its itineraries will include the major cities of the Baltic Sea, the fjords and coasts of Norway, and during the Christmas period, cruises to Western Europe as far as Lisbon. At the beginning of 2027, the vessel will also undertake its maiden voyage to the Canary Islands, before debuting in February with a 36-day cruise to the Caribbean.

With spacious public areas, new wellness spaces, and the distinctive sense of openness typical of the InTUItion class, the new ship joins its sister vessel Mein Schiff Relax and continues the development of TUI Cruises’ next-generation fleet.

Mein Schiff Flow stands out for a particularly rich and diverse offering designed to suit different types of travellers. On board, guests will find 14 restaurants and bistros and 17 bars and lounges, offering a culinary journey through international flavours and regional specialities, alongside new dining concepts and exclusive restaurants. Great emphasis has also been placed on wellness, with a large spa area, panoramic saunas, and innovative relaxation experiences.

The ship also offers a wide range of entertainment options, family-oriented spaces, new cabin and suite categories, and numerous sports and cultural activities, confirming TUI Cruises’ commitment to delivering a modern, informal travel experience focused on well-being, without compromising on the comfort and quality of service that define the brand.

A new chapter at sea begins for guests, perfectly captured by the christening motto: “Go with the Flow”.
