The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection: two new superyachts

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has announced the expansion of its fleet with the addition of two newly built superyachts, Ilma and Luminara, which will set sail in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

These superyachts will be built in collaboration with the world renowned Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Sant-Nazaire, France, which will handle all production and development, including the best design and sustainability features, led by the highest shipbuilding and naval engineering practices in the ultra-luxury sector.

The announcement comes at an exciting time as The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection prepares to launch its first superyacht, Evrima, this summer.

“We are thrilled to be working with Chantiers de l’Atlantique on the development of our second and third superyachts, Ilma and Luminara,” said Douglas Prothero, managing director of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. “They are an organization that is committed to excellence with a customized quality process and program that will help us realize our vision as we carefully expand our portfolio.”

“The addition of Ilma and Luminara represents significant growth for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and we look forward to collaborating with management and Chantiers de l’Atlantique on the creation of these world-class ships,” said Tim Grisius , Global Officer for Mergers and Acquisitions, Commercial and Real Estate Development, Marriott International.

“The next generation of superyachts for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection will have a real impact in the industry and take our shared vision with management and Marriott International to the next level in the luxury cruise market,” said Karim Khairallah, Chief Executive Officer and co-Portfolio Manager, European Principal Group, Oaktree Capital Management, LP (“Oaktree”).

Chantiers de l’Atlantique is very proud to design and build these mid-sized and ultra-luxurious cruise ships and to enter into a new partnership with The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. These ships will provide the highest standards of quality and level of comfort to their guests while at the same time being at the forefront of environmental performance, “said Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

The specially designed superyachts feature the highest space ratios at sea, with 228 suites, each with their own private terrace, and will offer a high percentage of larger suites, with two new and spacious superior suite categories measuring up to 100 square meters. Both ships will showcase modern craftsmanship and interior finishes imagined by London-based architect and design studio, AD Associates, and award-winning lighting designer, DPA.

The onboard experience will reflect the sublime comfort and legendary guest service for which the iconic Ritz-Carlton brand is recognized. Ilma and Luminara will provide nearly one staff member for each guest, and in addition to unrivaled accommodations, the new superyachts will include five restaurants, six bars, a wine cellar and exclusive spaces located on Evrima, such as an enlarged marina with a new feature of the mezzanine, a Ritz-Carlton Spa and a special space for children.

Reiterating The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s commitment to implementing sustainable practices throughout the business, each vessel will be equipped with four dual-fuel engines and will use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its primary fuel source, significantly reducing emissions compared to traditional practices. In addition, the yachts will include advanced water treatment systems, an efficient heat recovery circuit, LED lighting and more, with the aim of minimizing environmental impact.

Bookings for the 2024 season of the itineraries will open to the public this fall. The new superyachts will feature seven to 10 night itineraries in the Caribbean and Mediterranean and offer an all-inclusive experience. In addition, superyachts will also be available for private charter.
