Ambience, first Ambassador Cruise Line ship, departs

Ambience, the first ship in the new British fleet of Ambassador Cruise Line, departs Tilbury today for her maiden voyage.

The inauguration and renaming ceremony of the Ambience took place yesterday at the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury. The ship, launched in 1991 as Regal Princess, sailed extensively as Pacific Dawn in Australia and purchased by the new cruise company after a short passage as Satoshi.

The ceremony, the Ambassador Inaugural Ball, was attended by some guests, media and press specialists and the entire company staff. The cruise line’s values, among which the environmental protection and the British character of the product, were presented in the beautiful Palladium theater. In the second part of the ceremony, the ship was renamed.

Sally Gunnell, multiple Olympic champion, chosen as godmother of the ship, thanked for the exciting assignment and broke the bottle on the forward side of the Ambience. After the blessing, the evening proceeded with a wonderful gala dinner and musical entertainment until late at night.

Ambience will now offer European itineraries for the next spring and summer season, moving up to Greenland and among other wonderful destinations, all strictly reachable with departures from Tilbury. The concept of “no-fly” cruises espoused by the company provides that all departures take place exclusively from the United Kingdom.

An exciting event, which marked the starting point of a new ship and at the same time a new cruise line, born in a difficult time and of great uncertainty, which gave satisfaction to the investments and efforts of a young and determined staff. All that remains is to try the British style on board and visit the ports of calls offered in her original and particular itineraries, waiting to discover Ambition, the second ship for Ambassador Cruise Line scheduled for 2023.
