Ambassador Cruise Line: Ambition Joins the Fleet

Ambition, the second ship to join the Ambassador Cruise Line fleet, was christened in Newcastle on May 11.

Built in France in 1999, Ambition has been in service with several cruise lines, most recently Aida Cruises.

Ambassador Cruise Line, a British brand that enjoyed great success after the launch of its first ship, Ambience, purchased the unit and undertook extensive conversion and maintenance work. The result is an elegant and efficient ship, which was unveiled to the press and first passengers during a gala evening onboard, accompanied by a series of events and celebrations.

Ambassador Cruise Line has a well-defined cruise philosophy, which it consistently and effectively develops onboard its fleet. The brand has a distinctly “British” image that it takes great pride in possessing and offering to its guests as a hallmark within the ships. A “Britishness” that can be seen in the elegant style, in the itineraries offered (all departing from the UK with no-fly cruises), but also in the gastronomy and meals. But Ambassador Cruise Line also represents an opportunity for all non-British cruise passengers to visit wonderful ports of call around the island and to approach a culture in a complete and dynamic way, immersing themselves in a British context that nevertheless leaves many openings for travelers to try the new company.

The decision to give new life to old ships has not only allowed historic ships to sail the seas again, offering passengers moments of pleasure and relaxation at sea, but has also made it possible to perfectly reconcile the original beauty of the ships themselves with the most modern cruise requirements. A successful combination, given by interiors of great elegance and beauty, combined with the services that today are indispensable on modern cruise ships. All this in a predominantly classic style, where cruising is first and foremost a journey at sea, and therefore every moment of the day must be lived, appreciating the wonders of navigation and ports of call.

This does not mean that there is no entertainment onboard Ambition, where musicians and theatrical groups provide unforgettable moments and evenings of good food and fun.

Entertainment that was not lacking during the presentation of the ship, in which we participated with great pleasure, after the extremely positive experience we had during the launch of Ambience last year. The christening ceremony took place in the ship’s theater, accompanied by a presentation of the successes of the first year of operation, a wonderful show by the Corps de Ballet and the exciting presence of the sponsor, Shirley Robertson, British Olympic sailing champion.

The excitement continued later during a sumptuous gala dinner in Buckingham Restaurant, one of the most elegant and inviting of Ambition‘s many restaurants. The event also provided an opportunity to explore the ship’s exterior and all of its interiors, which have been expertly renovated and adapted to Ambassador‘s style. The next day, the ship set sail on its maiden voyage to Northern Europe, only to rejoin Ambience a few days later for an equally exciting farewell on the high seas.

The perfect organization of the event, as well as the cruise concept successfully implemented by Ambassador Cruise Line, combined with the beauty of the Ambition, convinced us that this company can not only be an example for the promotion of its territory and culture, but also an excellent opportunity for an international audience to have a complete experience within the English culture, visiting splendid itineraries and continuing to breathe the same atmosphere onboard.
