50 years of Carnival aboard Carnival Celebration

To celebrate its 50th birthday, Carnival Cruise Line presents The Golden Jubilee, which will celebrate the company’s 50-year history, on its latest ship, Carnival Celebration, which will debut in November.

The new bar and lounge will be part of the ship’s final area, which has yet to be announced, and will highlight the evolution of Carnival‘s ships over the past 50 years, intertwining its past with its present and looking to the future. The announcement was made during a conference at the Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami.

The Golden Jubilee, located on Deck 6, in the same location as The Brass Magnolia on Mardi Gras, will feature artwork, memorabilia and original pieces from Carnival‘s first ships.

There will also be round windows instead of square windows, reminiscent of the portholes of the line’s original ships, to create an ambiance similar to the classic cruise ship bar and lounge, as well as a live music stage and dance floor to give a feeling of nostalgia.

The bar’s specialized menu will also take guests on a journey through time, with a first version of the line’s logo introduced in the 1970s and the most popular cocktails over the decades since Carnival‘s founding year 1972.

The Golden Jubilee is the latest nod to our 50th birthday: a nostalgic yet timeless lounge where our guests can relive and connect with Carnival‘s past years while enjoying a glamorous and elegant space that embraces our current style” , said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

The adjacent promenade will also offer a unique glimpse into Carnival‘s history with: a one-of-a-kind porthole gallery that will tell the story of the evolution of Fun Ships through a series of six decorative porthole windows with three-dimensional dioramas for each of the five decades of Carnival‘s history and one that represents the company today and a glimpse into its future; the original 1955 era engine telegraph installed on the TSS Carnival and permanently set to the “Full Ahead” sign as a symbol of Carnival‘s forward motion; coins for each ship in the fleet, both past and present, integrated into the promenade floor design and more.

Carnival has already announced five zones aboard Carnival Celebration: 820 Biscayne, Celebration Central, The Ultimate Playground, Summer Landing and Lido. Further details and the final Carnival Celebration area will be revealed in the near future ahead of the ship’s maiden departure from Miami on November 21st. Once in Miami, the ship will set sail for five, six, seven, and eight-day cruises in the eastern and western Caribbean.

Carnival Celebration will be the second Carnival ship to be powered by a liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion system, part of Carnival Corporation’s green cruise platform, and will include award-winning roller coasters at the top of the ship. The ship will debut in November from PortMiami’s redesigned state-of-the-art Terminal F, the largest in South Florida.
