Windstar Cruises Unveils Exclusive Winter Itinerary

Windstar Cruises Unveils Exclusive Winter Itinerary in the Mediterranean, offering the opportunity to discover the charm of European cities during the magical holiday season or the relaxed early months of the year.

The innovative itinerary will begin in December 2023 and will be available until April 2024, visiting ports such as Barcelona, Nice, Livorno, Marseille, and Civitavecchia. These cities will be able to display a unique charm in this season and will offer a rich series of engaging events. The ship provided for these extraordinary cruises will be the recently renovated Star Legend, equipped with only spacious cabins and high-level services.

“The ship was originally scheduled to sail in the Middle East. We’ve postponed our launch in that region to begin in November 2024,” said Windstar Cruises President Christopher Prelog. “With a ship in the Mediterranean, we have the opportunity to offer guests a legendary winter season in Europe. Our small ships and intimate atmosphere provide a truly unique way to explore the winter wonders, enjoying the magic of the season and the comfort and casual luxury that Windstar is famous for.”

While the allure of summer in the Mediterranean is undeniable, the quieter and more intimate charm of the winter months offers an exclusive perspective on these timeless destinations. Traveling during the winter season in the Mediterranean means taking advantage of less crowded cities and easier access to museums, cultural events, and historical sites. It will be easier to have a more direct connection with the local culture, people, and Mediterranean flavors.

Windstar Cruises will offer 16 cruises from Rome to Barcelona (or vice versa), and in the last itinerary, also an 8-night cruise from Rome to Athens, visiting the Amalfi Coast and Greece. A truly special cruise will be the Christmas cruise, which can be booked as an 8 or 9-day cruise, thus including New Year’s Eve.

Travelers will be able to participate in some of the most magical winter experiences in Europe, including Christmas markets and ice skating in Nice, France; excursions to the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Trevi Fountain in Rome during the holidays; and Florence’s spectacular Light Festival, among many other unique experiences. Guests will also have several extraordinary holiday opportunities, including the chance to spend Christmas Eve and Day in Rome; ring in the New Year in Barcelona; spend Valentine’s Day in Nice; or enjoy Carnival celebrations in Spain and Italy at the end of February.

The change in schedule has given Windstar the opportunity to position its all-suite ship, Star Legend, in Cannes in early December to coincide with the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) conference. Windstar executives, including Prelog, Vice President of Sales Dianna Rom, and Chief Commercial Officer Janet Bava, will be available to showcase the ship’s renovation completed as part of the $250 Million Star Plus Initiative and offer the opportunity to sail on a two-night cruise to Rome after the event.

Windstar Cruises‘ new winter cruises will be available for purchase starting on November 6, 2023. An extraordinary opportunity to discover a brand with fantastic ships and the attentive and informal service offered on board the Star Legend, in an atmosphere completely different from the standard of ships traveling in the Mediterranean in winter.
