Silversea sets sail on World Cruise from Sydney

Silversea Cruises‘ World Cruise 2023, South Side Story, will depart from Sydney on Jan. 10, and is the first time the leading ultra-luxury cruise line will set sail from the Southern Hemisphere on a world cruise.

The voyage is inspired by art and will last 139 days, in which guests will discover authentic beauty from the South Seas to the Amazon Rainforest and beyond, arriving in as many as 66 destinations in 34 countries on five continents. Barbara Muckermann, President and CEO of Silversea Cruises said, “Every detail of our guests’ voyages has been carefully considered and enhanced, from the in-flight experience to airport lounges and entertainment. Arriving in Sydney on business-class flights with additional cabin crew to ensure exceptional service, guests will enjoy tailor-made pampering with bespoke menus, welcome canapés, vintage champagne and specially embroidered linens. Each of the special events we have planned is also entirely bespoke.

Under the leadership of Captain Macarone Palmieri, the entire on-board team (consisting of hotel manager Flavio Gioia, cruise director Vicki Van Tassel, Venetian Company delegate Norman Rafelson, and the rest of the fantastic crew) will strive to provide exceptional service to all guests. Approximately 20 percent of the travelers are first-time travelers with the company; in addition, there are two guests from the United Kingdom who have accumulated more than 2,500 days spent on a cruise, also with Silversea, prior to the start of the voyage. The World Cruise 2023 will sail from Sydney on January 10, 2023 and arrive in Fort Lauderdale on May 28.

The itinerary will introduce guests to Papua New Guinea, Mauritius, Reunion Island and Cape Verde to iconic regions and cities, often unlocked with overnight calls, explore the wonders of Tasmania and New Zealand, spend three days in Myanmar and a full week in South Africa. And, for the first time on a Silversea World Cruise, Silver Shadow will sail along the Amazon River to discover the natural and cultural wonders of this legendary region. Traveling through captivating landscapes, you will learn about the history, culture, and spirit of the people and places visited.

To start, the first night in Sydney includes a special Bon Voyage reception and dinner. Afterwards, each guest can participate in exclusive World Cruise events, which will open the doors to the sights, tastes and rhythms of music, art, theater and dance with authentic performances. Guests will enjoy the convenience of private transfers to and from the local airport, private gate/lounge assistance, and access to designated airline lounges.

They will also enjoy a superior flight experience from selected gateways in the U.S. and U.K. to Sydney, Australia, experiencing a new level of comfort in business class (with an entire dedicated cabin, more space to relax, dining on the freshest seasonal ingredients, VIP-assisted welcome upon arrival, executive private transfers, and priority boarding…).
