Silversea’s Grand Voyage Mediterranean 2026 has departed from Lisbon, a 50-day itinerary aboard Silver Spirit that will take guests to 40 destinations across 12 countries and no fewer than 48 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, before concluding in Athens (Piraeus) on November 7. It is a journey that explores virtually every facet of the Mediterranean, combining major cultural capitals, iconic ports, and lesser-visited destinations, with a program designed to go far beyond simply calling at each port.
From Lisbon to Athens, Silver Spirit will follow a route that begins on Europe’s Atlantic edge, crosses the coasts of Morocco and the Iberian Peninsula, continues along France and Italy, enters the Adriatic between Montenegro, Croatia, and Slovenia, and finally reaches Greece and Turkey. Istanbul, Dubrovnik, Casablanca, and Barcelona share the same itinerary with destinations such as Volos, Gythion, Kotor, and Amalfi, while overnight stays in Malaga, Livorno, and Istanbul will allow guests to experience some of the most fascinating cities on the voyage at a much more relaxed pace than on a typical cruise. This depth of experience is one of the defining elements of Silversea’s Grand Voyages. Bert Hernandez, president of the company, emphasized how these itineraries are designed to create a deeper connection with each destination through moments that would be difficult to replicate during a conventional visit, from spending a private evening inside an ancient cistern in Istanbul to discovering Florence after its major art venues have closed to the public.
The first leg of the voyage takes Silver Spirit from Lisbon toward Casablanca and Tangier, before passing through the Strait of Gibraltar and continuing to Cádiz and Malaga, where an overnight stay is scheduled, followed by Valencia and Barcelona. The shoreside experience goes well beyond traditional sightseeing: options include a tapas-making class paired with a sherry tasting in a 19th-century mansion in Jerez and a five-course meal in a countryside home near Malaga, complemented by churros and olive oil tastings. From Barcelona, the ship will cross the Western Mediterranean, calling at Palamós, Palma de Mallorca, Sète, Marseille, and Monte Carlo, before an overnight stay in Livorno and a subsequent call at Porto Santo Stefano, with arrival in Civitavecchia. Here too, Silversea focuses on experiences deeply connected to the territory, from cruising the Thau Lagoon with a visit to oyster and mussel farms to exploring Le Mortelle, the Antinori family estate whose winemaking heritage dates back to the 14th century.
From Italy’s Tyrrhenian coast, Silver Spirit will then head south toward Naples and Amalfi, continuing to Giardini Naxos, Valletta, and then across the Adriatic to Kotor, Split, Zadar, Rovinj, and Fusina, the gateway to Venice. Among the experiences offered are a visit to the Marisa Cuomo winery, carved into the rock above Furore, and a S.A.L.T. experience on the slopes of Mount Etna with wine judge and winemaker Benjamin Spencer. The voyage will then continue from Venice toward Koper, Rijeka, Dubrovnik, and Bari, before reaching Corfu, Katakolon, Gythion, and Souda Bay in Crete, ahead of arrival in Athens. Here, options range from discovering Predjama Castle, built into a cave system, followed by lunch at a Michelin Green Star restaurant, to a traditional peka-style culinary experience at a family estate in the Konavle countryside near Dubrovnik. Athens, however, will not yet mark the end of the Grand Voyage: Silver Spirit will set sail once again for the final section of the itinerary across the Aegean, with calls at Mykonos, Volos, and Thessaloniki, an overnight stay in Istanbul, and further visits to Rhodes and Santorini before the final return to Piraeus. During this stage, guests will be able to take part in experiences such as a private tasting of volcanic Assyrtiko at Anhydrous Winery in Oia or gain access to two of Meteora’s clifftop monasteries, still home to a small monastic community today.
Two exclusive events, however, form the cultural heart of the voyage. The first is a true immersion in the Italian Renaissance, with a two-day program from Livorno to Florence beginning at Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa and continuing with lunch overlooking the city from Piazzale Michelangelo, a private after-hours visit to the Uffizi Gallery, and dinner at the St. Regis. The following day will include a guided walking tour of Florence, an afternoon reserved exclusively for Silversea guests at Palazzo Pucci, and private evening access to the Accademia Gallery, offering the opportunity to admire Michelangelo’s David away from the usual crowds. The second event will take place in Istanbul, inside the atmospheric Şerefiye Cistern, built in the 5th century under Emperor Theodosius II, where guests will be welcomed for an exclusive evening of music and dining surrounded by marble columns and vaulted ceilings that have endured for more than sixteen centuries. Silver Spirit also arrives at this Grand Voyage with several important new features.
Silversea has recently expanded and refreshed a number of public spaces, introducing new dining concepts and bringing its S.A.L.T. – Sea And Land Taste program onboard, with S.A.L.T. Kitchen, S.A.L.T. Bar, and S.A.L.T. Lab. The restaurant offers menus inspired by the destinations visited, paired with selections of local wines, while the bar develops cocktails and curated selections of wines, beers, and spirits linked to the regions explored; S.A.L.T. Lab completes the experience with hands-on cooking classes dedicated to local techniques and culinary traditions. Among the most distinctive additions is Riviera, a new open-air poolside concept inspired by the golden age of Mediterranean travel, where coastal cuisine, fresh seafood, regional wines, and cocktails are paired with a design created specifically to reflect the destinations through which the ship will sail.
With 50 days of travel, 48 UNESCO sites, and an itinerary that brings together the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Aegean, the Grand Voyage Mediterranean 2026 effectively captures Silversea’s approach to long-form cruising: not simply a succession of ports, but a continuous journey in which destinations, gastronomy, culture, and life onboard become part of the same story. And the concept is set to continue, with additional Grand Voyages already confirmed through 2028, including the Mediterranean 2027 aboard Silver Dawn, the Grand Voyage Asia 2028 aboard Silver Muse, and the Grand Voyage South America 2028 aboard Silver Ray.
