Norwegian Prima: first trip to the U.S. completed

Norwegian Prima, the newest ship in Norwegian Cruise Line‘s 18-ship fleet, completed its first U.S. voyage back to New York, where it made its grand debut on Oct. 6, 2022 following a historic launch as the first major cruise ship to be christened in Reykjavik, Iceland.

“As a native New Yorker, this city is dear to me and to our company, where NCL has been sailing from the Big Apple since 1991, so we are thrilled that our new ship, Norwegian Prima, has completed her first U.S. voyage in New York City,” said Norwegian Cruise Line President and CEO Harry Sommer. “We are very excited to show travelers all that Norwegian Prima has to offer, including larger spaces, thoughtful design and elevated service that will exceed guests’ expectations.”

For the first time in the U.S., Norwegian Prima welcomed more than 2,400 guests who enjoyed unprecedented elevated experiences available only on NCL‘s First Class, including the world’s only and largest three-tiered circuit on the water featuring the Prima Speedway, the brand’s first luxury food hall, Indulge, and The Metropolitan, the cruise industry’s first sustainable cocktail bar.

After completing its first series of voyages from New York City, visiting hot destinations including Bermuda, Virginia Beach, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, Norwegian Prima will return to the Big Apple to offer round-trips from Bermuda from March 28, 2023 to May 14, 2023, before returning to Europe by sailing throughout the summer from Reykjavik, Iceland and Southampton, UK, making buck-list stops at some of northern Europe’s finest port destinations throughout Iceland and Norway.
