Description
Viking Gyda is a river ship specially designed to navigate the Douro River in Portugal. Measuring approximately 80 meters in length, it can accommodate up to 106 guests in 53 outside staterooms with river views, offering an intimate and comfortable experience amid the landscapes and vineyards of the Douro Valley. Its name evokes Gyda, a figure from Norse sagas remembered as the daughter of Eirik, King of Hordaland, and associated with the legend of Harald Fairhair’s unification of Norway. The interiors, characterized by elegant Scandinavian design, include a restaurant with expansive panoramic windows, a Lounge & Bar, and the Aquavit Terrace, an indoor and outdoor space at the bow that is ideal for admiring the scenery. The Sun Deck offers a peaceful, shaded area where guests can relax. Accommodation options include standard staterooms, French balcony staterooms, veranda staterooms, and Veranda Suites, featuring a separate living room, a private veranda, and a French balcony in the sleeping area.
