British comfort and European charm
I had the pleasure of boarding the Ventura for a short three-day cruise departing from Southampton with a stop in Zeebrugge. A quick yet well-balanced getaway, ideal for those looking to unwind. Ventura, part of the P&O Cruises fleet, is in excellent shape: despite her years of service, she is well maintained and welcoming, with elegant public areas and a layout that makes it easy to navigate the ship. The cabins are comfortable and clean, featuring classic furnishings and all the essential amenities—just right for the length of the voyage. Service was polite and efficient, with a crew that was attentive without being overbearing. Dining is one of the ship’s highlights: from the main dining room to the specialty restaurants, the offering is varied and well-executed. The stop in Zeebrugge is brief but still allows for an enjoyable excursion to Bruges. Evening entertainment and onboard activities are well curated, though with such a short itinerary, there isn’t time to try everything.
