Seabourn: the luxury and comfort of Seabourn Ovation

Seabourn Ovation, Seabourn’s 2018 unit, represents a new generation of ships for the U.S.-based luxury company, which has contributed, along with its sister ship Seabourn Encore, to a fleet renewal.

Nevertheless, Seabourn Ovation is in line with previous units in terms of the location of common areas on board and the standard of service offered, while bringing new features and further increasing the quality and offer of entertainment, catering and attention to the customer.

As usual on board Seabourn, the common areas are located in the aft areas of the ship, while all the accommodations in different categories of Suites are located in the middle and forward areas. The interiors are characterized by elegance and attention to detail, while remaining very cozy and comfortable. Particularly striking is the wide central staircase that connects the public areas.

The beating heart of Seabourn Ovation is undoubtedly the Seabourn Square, located on deck 7. It is a very large and bright space, with comfortable sofas and armchairs, bookcases full of volumes and beautiful windows overlooking the sea. On one side, the Coffee Bar serves excellent espresso coffees and cappuccinos, with a mouth-watering display of sweet and savory snacks, as well as excellent ice cream. In the center are customer service desks and some computers for public use.

On the starboard side of the ship is the Cruise Consultant and the spectacular jewelry shop, with display windows full of splendid precious objects. The stores continue inside with the perfumery area, clothing and some gift items, until they reach the center of the ship. The Seabourn Square also has a large outdoor area, equipped with armchairs and tables, ideal for enjoying the view of the stern.

In the evening, the liveliest place is undoubtedly The Club, on deck 6, a lounge with a dance floor and live music. Here you can taste the best cocktails, some cigars and, right at the entrance of the club, take advantage of the Casino, small but complete and very welcoming. The Club also has an outdoor area, but it is much more frequented during the day as it has a swimming pool and two Jacuzzis overlooking the stern.

The shows are instead held at the Gran Salon, on deck 7: the on-board theater has a stage that is not raised, which gives the pleasant feeling that the artists are in the middle of the audience and makes the beautiful shows and entertainment offered less formal.

The Grill by Thomas Keller, an exclusive restaurant on board Seabourn Ovation, is in fact a pleasant environment even during the whole day. In fact, a beautiful wall of colored crystals separates the area of the tables from that of the bar, allowing to enjoy cocktails and the excellent selection of wines of the bar itself.

The Observation Bar, on deck 11, represents a large lounge with a 270° view of the sea and the spectacular glass roof of the Bar, enriched with spectacular blue glass fish. The environment represents an oasis of silence and intimacy during the day, with tea service in the afternoon. In the evening it turns first into a Tapas-Bar with live music for the aperitif time, and finally into a pleasant evening musical entertainment.

The Spa is located on deck 10 and offers a renewed quality and choice of treatments thanks to the collaboration with Dr. Andrew Weil. The large area, called Spa & Wellness, consists of a Fitness Center, with the most modern gym equipment, a Motion Studio, a Thermal Area and various Treatment Rooms in addition to the Beauty Salon. The entrance to the thermal area foresees a modest daily fee and consists of two types of sauna, Turkish bath, sensory showers, tepidarium and an external solarium.

The outdoor areas of Seabourn Ovation revolve around the beautiful central pool, accompanied by two Jacuzzis and a sunbathing area on either side. The area is served by the Patio Bar, which also serves excellent ice cream, and the Patio Grill, an informal outdoor venue. The area on deck 11 above the swimming pool is equipped with sunbeds and comfortable sofas with beautiful panoramic views. The area is served by the Sky Bar, which will not miss your favorite drink served directly to your sunbeds.

An equally beautiful area is the Sun Terrace, a solarium located at the bow of deck 12 and free access, with beautiful sea views and more privacy. An exclusive service at an additional cost is offered at the Retreat area: here you can rent your own ‘cabana’ and enjoy a Jacuzzi, sofa with TV and minibar, and full restaurant service. An experience really to try during a nice day of sailing.

Dining on board Seabourn revolves around the main restaurant, The Restaurant, and the more casual The Colonnade. The first, located on Deck 4, is open for all meals and represents the most elegant and relaxing choice. A refined and sophisticated environment, with lots of attention to service and courses. The Colonnade, on the other hand, represents the rich buffet for breakfast and lunch, with a focus on the traditional recipes of the places visited. In the evening, it becomes an a la carte restaurant, with free access and an ever-changing thematic menu inspired by the itinerary. Here you can also take advantage of the outdoor terrace, for an open-air dinner in the evening.

A first gastronomic alternative, in addition of course to a full 24-hour in-suite service, is the Sushi restaurant: small but extremely welcoming, it offers two different menus for lunch and dinner, offering true Japanese cuisine with many specialties served with elegance by Japanese staff. Another valid option for dinner is the Patio Grill, which transforms into the Earth & Ocean Restaurant from 6 pm. Here you can dine by the pool with excellent entrées, small appetizers and fish or meat dishes.

Finally, we already mentioned The Grill by Thomas Keller, a refined environment available upon reservation, where they serve every kind of specialties with an excellent wine list and some specialties of the famous American Chef.

The accommodations on board are all exterior and are divided into different categories of Suites. As many as 6 different Veranda Suites depending on their location. The others are spectacular, from the Owner’s Suite to the Grand Signature Suite and the Wintergarden Suite. High standards and amenities everywhere: high-end bathroom amenities, unlimited minibar, 24-hour service, etc.

Seabourn Ovation represents a style of cruising that focuses on attention to every detail and the utmost attention to the customer’s every desire. It offers excellent catering, with more options available, from an excellent buffet to the most elaborate dishes served in The Restaurant. The all-inclusive formula that it offers is truly inclusive of everything, except for the Spa and the organized excursions. The choice of wines is excellent and with much variety during the days of the cruise.

With exclusive and intriguing itineraries, an elegant but not rigid and always welcoming environment, Seabourn Ovation and the entire Seabourn fleet, represents a type of travel that is really worth trying, to experience a unique atmosphere of relaxation and attention while traveling by sea to discover ports of call and places that are often unusual.
