On board Msc Cruises: all about the Msc Seaside

The Msc Seaside was the first of the innovative class of ships launched by Msc Cruises in 2017. This successful project was then followed by the construction of the Msc Seaview and the Msc Seashore.

The numbers of the Msc Seaside are really impressive, especially for the times we are living in, as we are now accustomed to ever larger and more sensational ships. Over 150 thousand tons, 17 passenger decks, about 4000 guests in double occupancy rooms, which can become up to 5000 with the use of a third bed in the rooms. But nevertheless, on board there are many areas where you can experience an intimate cruise feeling, deciding whether to go shopping or enjoy the nightlife or stay in quieter areas, enjoying the sea and sailing.

The beating heart of the Msc Seaside is without a doubt the marvelous central Atrium where some of the main services are located and that all the decks with common areas face onto. They are all pleasantly united by the shared view onto the atrium itself. On deck 5, there is the Seaside Bar, the most central bar of the ship, around which there are sofas and armchairs, and also located here is Customer Service and the Emotions Immersive Gallery. Here you can listen to live music, drink good coffee in the morning or have an aperitif while waiting for your turn for dinner.

A series of other places overlook the Atrium as we move to the higher decks. The Shine Bar is located on deck 6 with beautiful seats overlooking the sea which are especially great for enjoying navigation. Going up one more deck, on deck 7, you will find the Champagne Bar, an elegant place dedicated to bubbly, where you can pair a nice glass of Champagne with oysters or simply listen to music while sailing towards the next port!

On deck 8, still looking out onto the Atrium, there is the Bistrot La Boheme, which offers drinks and small brasserie plates in perfect French style, decorated and with an ambiance which makes you feel like you are in a dream in the City of Lights.

The various locals of the Msc Seaside are certainly not done yet. We will continue to discover more of them walking along the various decks of this giant on the sea. On deck 6 there is the Venchi Cioccogelateria & Coffeebar, an obligatory stop for those with a sweet tooth who love chocolate in all its forms. But it is also a place to have fun during an evening of live music always offered at the nearby Piazza Grande.

On deck 7 there is the Haven Lounge, a modern lounge that has live music and a dance floor and is lively and full of people until late in the evening. More extravagant and youthful is the Garage Club, also aft of deck 7, furnished in a drive-in style which will immerse you in a bygone era between jukeboxes and American cars. Going out to the South Beach Pool, you will find the Venchi Gelateria & Creperie for another gourmet break and the South Beach Bar, popular at all hours of the day … and also at night!

On deck 8, around the beautiful Piazza, there are two clubs: the Sports Bar has a very large central oval counter and is dedicated to sports lovers. There is sports memorabilia everywhere and you can watch live programs, matches, etc. which are always playing on the screens. Opposite this is the News Café which has a more elegant setting with live music played in the evening while in the afternoon it becomes the ideal place to sit in silence and enjoy the sea or read a good book.

More public spaces are found on deck 16 of the Msc Cruises ship. At the bow of the ship is the Wine & Cocktails Bar which, with a truly exceptional list of aperitifs and cocktails, entertains guests who will dine in one of the specialty restaurants that surround it. Far more lively is the Miami Beach Bar which, serving the main pool, is the reference point for anyone who wants to have a drink while enjoying the pool and the sun.

Finally, on deck 18, there is a beautiful outdoor bar on the stern overlooking the Lido Miami Beach, which is ideal for viewing beautiful sunsets or participating in the party atmosphere of the pool without getting too far into the crowd… Instead, going towards the bow, you will find the Jungle Bar, near the Jungle Pool indoor swimming pool. With its particular decor it will immerse you in a very… wild environment! On the bow of deck 19, in the Top19 solarium area, there is the Msc Aurea Bar, which is elegant and secluded with two beautiful whirlpool hot tubs on both sides.

Ships like the Msc Seaside have to have certain fundamental services which have been established as necessary for all modern cruising. The Msc Aurea Spa is a true thermal spa complex which takes complete care of guests. Located on deck 8, it offers a series of treatments and a very rich menu of experiences such as thalassotherapy, a snow cave, tepidarium, saunas etc. It also has a pleasant outdoor area and ancillary services such as a hairdresser, a Barber Shop, a cosmetics shop and a relaxation area. In the vicinity there is also the Gym, equipped with the best exercise machines and a very spacious area dedicated to cardio-fitness.

The Miami Casino is located on deck 7 and features a great round central bar serving drinks and snacks. There are slots and tables of every type with a very large surface area and plenty of charm. The Library & Billiard Room is located on the same deck at the bow and offers a billiard table where you can play pool on the sea! On the opposite side you’ll find the Arcade Games & Bowling with some videogames and two bowling lanes for more unique experiences to enjoy at sea.

Children and adolescents will certainly not be bored on this ship. The Forest Aquaventure Park alone represents one of the most exciting attractions on board, and not only for the youngest passengers. It has water slides, suspension bridges and various water games. The Sports Court is always available for tennis, soccer and volleyball matches. There are also spaces dedicated to every different age group: from Doremi Studio and Doremiland to the Lego Junior Club, the Lego Mini Club and the Chicco Baby Club, and finally the Young Club and the Teen Club for older kids and teens.

On the Msc Seaside there are three swimming pools (excluding the Yacht Club). The Jungle Pool has a self-powered structure which allows it to be covered and therefore always usable. The Miami Beach Pool is located on the stern of deck 16 and features a series of sunbeds, a dance floor for dancing, games or music, and goes all the way to the beautiful Bridge of Sights, suspended over the sea with a breathtaking view over the stern wave. The South Beach Pool is located on deck 7, this pool as well offers a panoramic view over the stern.

The dining on the Msc Seaside consists of two classic restaurants, some specialty restaurants and two buffet restaurants. The set dinner times, usually three different slots in the evening, guarantee meals in the two main restaurants with table service, the Ipanema Restaurant and the Seashore Restaurant, on decks 6 and 5 respectively. The Msc Seaside offers 3 different specialty restaurants, all located on the bow of deck 16. The Butcher’s Cut, now an icon of Msc Cruises, is for meat lovers and offers steak menus as well as surf and turf delicacies in an elegant yet young and easy-going setting.

The Ocean Cay specialty restaurant is dedicated to fish lovers, with raw and shellfish specialties and a nice list of white wines and bubbly. Finally, the Asian Market offers various menu options for lovers of fusion and Asian recipes. From Sushi to Panasian to the inevitable Teppanyaki, it is all served with the cooking acrobatics of the skilled chefs on board.

Two buffet restaurants are available to passengers, open for breakfast, lunch and one of the two also for dinner. Deck 8 is the large Lido Marketplace, with a beautiful outdoor area where you can eat al fresco and a series of stations dedicated to various dishes: pizzeria, ethnic corner, salads, bakery etc. On deck 16, the Biscayne Bay Restaurant offers a similar but not exactly identical menu, and is the most convenient place if you want to stay near the pool area as it is adjacent to the Miami Beach Pool.

The Yacht Club deserves a separate discussion, as it is a real ship within a ship, with high-level services, its own lounge, its own restaurant and its own Lido area. Here you can enjoy the journey in total privacy but with the freedom of being able to explore the common areas of the ship as well. When you feel like it, you can head to more lively areas and perhaps enjoy the hustle and bustle that can be fun as well!

With its Infinity Bridge suspended over the sea on deck 8, the Art Gallery, a gallery of shops that is the envy of many cities… the incredible Metropolitan Theatre, the Msc Seaside is truly a floating city able to offer services and entertainment to everyone, guaranteeing lots of activities to be involved in as well as privacy and relaxation all at the same time. This class of ship has already been successful and has continued to be improved upon with the twin ships of the Msc Seaside already finished and will continue to be improved with those planned for the future.
