Exploring Costa Diadema

Built by Fincantieri and launched in autumn 2014, the Costa Diadema is a Costa Cruises’ ship of the Dream class. The project, used by Carnival Corporation for other brands of the group, is mainly characterized by a fascinating walk outside deck 5, where there are several rooms that follow one another internally. Until the launch of the Costa Smeralda, the, Costa Diadema is undoubtedly the company’s most modern and innovative unit.

The interiors are bright and the eccentricity of the previous style has been partially reduced. There are also very elegant interiors on board, while not betraying the design line of the latest units in the fleet. Most of the passenger rooms are located between the lowest decks 4 and 5 and the highest decks 10 and 11.

The Costa Diadema stands out among the fleet for the large number of lounges dedicated to its guests, both for the younger ones and for those who love peace and relaxation. Starting from the lowest deck with spaces for passengers, the 4th Pearl of Venus, we find the large Grand Bar Orlov, an ideal place to listen to music, dance and take part in group games. The upper opening towards deck 5 makes it particularly lively and gives you the feeling of being at the centre of every activity of the ship.

At Deck 5 Eldorado, it is difficult to decide where to stop. From the Country Rock Club, located on the straight side towards the bow, to the Bar Bollicine, where the excellent Italian sparkling wine Ferrari is promoted. From the Cigar Lounge, dedicated to smokers and with the possibility of playing with available slot machines, to La Piazza, a meeting place always animated in addition to the excellent Pizzeria.

Towards the stern there are two innovative venues such as the Dresden Garden Brewery, on two levels, and the Grand Duke of Tuscany Wine Shop, where you can taste the best beers in collaboration with Poretti and wines from all over the world. The Piano Bar Principe Nero and the large Salone Teodora close the aft. From here you can exit to the wonderful terrace, to enjoy the navigation at any time of day. For those who want to be late, the Disco Pietra di Luna, with furniture that recalls the stars and planets, is certainly an ideal place, located on two levels in the aft area of the bridges 11 and 12.

The entertainment offered by Costa Diadema does not end with the numerous lounges. The Atrium Eliodoro, on deck 3, is always a meeting point, with live music and piano entertainment, the lively bar and the comfortable sofas that surround it. From here you can also access the Emerald Theatre, spread over three bridges, with beautiful shows of all kinds. The 4D Cinema offers strong emotions and the Golden Jubilee Casino has tables and slots for those who want to measure their luck. The Cards Room, furnished with the seeds of the French cards, is very nice.

Fitness lovers have at their disposal the large gym located on deck 14, above the Samsara Wellness Centre which is now a brand not to be missed on Costa Crociere ships. Also on deck 14 is a multi-purpose sports ground and a jogging course for running surrounded by the sea.

Onboard services are mainly distributed between decks 3, 4 and 5. In addition to the Guest Service and Excursion Office, the Costa Diadema also has a Hospitality Desk, which offers assistance in multiple languages, and the Costa Travel Office. Two meeting rooms are available on deck 4, Sala Tiara and Sala Desirée. If you love shopping, deck 4 itself will be your favourite: from the Portobello Market aft, a beautiful shopping arcade winds towards the bow offering all kinds of items, from souvenirs to precious jewellery.

A ship like the Costa Diadema can’t help but offer various gastronomic options and some temptations for the greedy. The main restaurants are the Florentine aft and Adularia at the centre of the ship. Suite and customers with accommodation in the Samsara area have at their disposal the Restaurant Samsara and the Restaurant Club Diadema. On the Lido deck, the Corona Blu Restaurant offers a buffet with various specialties, some of which overlook the Lido di poppa Stella del Sud and the central Diana. For those who want to experience Asian cuisine, the Teppanyaki Table is an experience not to be missed. It’s also hard to resist the freshly baked pizza served at La Piazza. The same temptation will apply to the Gelateria Amarillo ice-cream parlour, as will other places overlooking the outdoor promenade on deck 5.

The outdoor spaces of Costa Diadema are large and very enjoyable. At the stern, Lido Stella del Sud offers a swimming pool and many Solarium stations, which also climb to decks 11 and 12. In the middle of the ship, Lido Diana offers as many spaces for sunbeds, which also extend to the bow with Solarium up to deck 14. Whirlpools can be found both on the Lido bridge and in Balconata Diana on deck 11 and on both sides in the promenade of deck 5.

Children and teenagers will have on board everything that will make their holiday unforgettable. From the Peppa Pig playground to the Waterpark, passing through the Squok Deck castle on the outer decks. The Star Laser video game room is located in the atrium on deck 5. The Scuderia Costa has billiards and other activities available at all times.

Costa Diadema never seems to allow you to get bored and represents a young ship, exposed to the sea, with comfortable outdoor areas and many places to stay, both for fun and dancing or rather, to relax simply by watching the sea.
