Triton Submarines enters into partnership with Scenic

Triton Submarines, the largest designer and manufacturer of civilian submersibles, and Scenic Luxury Cruises, operator of the World’s First Discovery Yachts, today announced the launch of a long-term partnership to supply and operate submersibles aboard the Scenic Eclipse Discovery Yacht series.

Under the agreement, Triton Submarines will provide a first-of-its-kind Triton 660/9 AVA for the Scenic Eclipse II, a ship currently under construction, which will allow up to eight Scenic guests plus their pilot to share an exciting sensory diving experience down to depths of 200 meters or 660 feet.

Rob Voss, Chief Operations Officer of Scenic Group, announced the acquisition saying, “We are thrilled to have a long-term partner like Triton Submarines that will allow us to continue to provide our guests with unique underwater explorations during their luxurious discovery and expedition voyages. This new partnership means even more guests will be able to discover the depths and we are thrilled to have this unique Triton aboard our latest discovery yacht, Scenic Eclipse II.

Scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2023, the second in Scenic’s Discovery Yacht fleet, Scenic Eclipse II will sail in both polar and tropical areas. At 168 meters long and 21.5 meters wide, the six-star luxury yacht will accommodate just 228 guests in all-inclusive luxury.

The unique configuration of the Triton 660/9 AVA offers many advantages beyond the existing metal pressure hulled submersibles currently found in the cruise ship industry. The Triton 660/9 AVA‘s revolutionary, patent-protected, elliptical-shaped acrylic pressure hull optimizes the use of volume while greatly improving both comfort and views. The Triton 660/9 AVA not only offers panoramic views and a brilliant shared diving experience for all occupants, but the incredibly versatile interior can be quickly reconfigured for a wide variety of premium activities including dining or diving with cocktails, spa treatments, underwater gaming experiences and even weddings.

Patrick Lahey, president and co-founder of Triton Submarines commented, “We are extremely proud to announce a partnership with such a famous and highly respected brand like Scenic. We share not only a natural company culture for exploring the most exhilarating and challenging places on Earth, but a commitment to ensuring that these experiences are safe and professionally executed. We look forward to creating a long and mutually beneficial partnership with Scenic and contributing positively to the extraordinary on-board experiences that have become synonymous with Scenic Eclipse cruises.”

Triton CEO and co-founder L. Bruce Jones added: “As a submarine operator, Scenic really focused on the details of what they needed and expected in their next product. We introduced the Triton 660/9 AVA, which not only met the challenges they had previously set, but exceeded their expectations in terms of guest experience. In fact, the elegant simplicity of the Triton 660/9 AVA’s design ensures reliability using systems that have already been tested on numerous other models in the formidable Triton lineup.”

While Scenic represents the first Triton 660/9 AVA to be acquired in the cruise ship sector, two additional units have been acquired from customers within the model’s other main target sectors: one for a private yacht and a third for a boutique resort.
