Seabourn has announced the first group of speakers from The Atlantic who will take part in the Seabourn Conversations programme in fall 2026, marking the first major activation of the three-year partnership between the luxury cruise line and the renowned U.S. publication.

David Frum, Megan Garber, Yvonne Rolzhausen and Evan Smith will join selected sailings aboard Seabourn Ovation, offering guests a series of discussions focused on journalism, culture, media, politics and some of the major issues shaping contemporary society. It is a particularly interesting addition to Seabourn’s onboard programme, especially at a time when cultural enrichment is becoming an increasingly important part of the luxury cruise experience. The initiative forms part of Seabourn Conversations, the cruise line’s enrichment programme that brings authors, journalists, academics and experts from a wide range of fields on board, giving guests the opportunity to engage with leading voices during their voyage.

“One of the most powerful things about travel is its ability to change the way we see the world,” said Kacy Cole, Chief Marketing Officer for Seabourn. Cole noted that the partnership with The Atlantic brings together two brands united by intellectual curiosity and a shared interest in exploring ideas from different perspectives, adding another dimension to the onboard experience. Evan Smith, Managing Director of Events at The Atlantic, also highlighted how the first events at sea will provide a strong introduction to the partnership, with a selection of speakers and topics reflecting the publication’s broad editorial approach and range of expertise.

The first featured itinerary will be the 13-day “Atlantic Coast: Lighthouses & New England Charms” voyage, scheduled from October 31 to November 13, 2026. Megan Garber and Yvonne Rolzhausen will join guests on board. Megan Garber is a staff writer at The Atlantic whose work focuses on the intersection of culture and media. A recipient of a Mirror Award for her writing on the media, she previously worked with the Nieman Journalism Lab and the Columbia Journalism Review. She is also the author of Screen People: How We Entertained Ourselves into a State of Emergency and On Misdirection: Magic, Mayhem, American Politics. Yvonne Rolzhausen is a managing editor and head of fact-checking at The Atlantic. Over more than three decades with the publication, she has developed extensive expertise in journalistic accuracy, editorial standards and fact-checking, subjects she regularly addresses at universities and international events.

A second appointment is planned for the eight-day “Southern Caribbean Gems” sailing, taking place from November 20 to 28, 2026, also aboard Seabourn Ovation. David Frum and Evan Smith will be the featured guests on this itinerary. David Frum is a staff writer at The Atlantic and host of the weekly podcast The David Frum Show. His work covers politics, public policy, culture, art, literature and history. He is the author of ten books, including Trumpocracy and Trumpocalypse. Frum also served as a speechwriter for U.S. President George W. Bush between 2001 and 2002 and later chaired the British think tank Policy Exchange from 2014 to 2017. Evan Smith is Managing Director of Events at The Atlantic, where he oversees live journalism and public programming, while also serving as a senior advisor at Emerson Collective. He previously co-founded and led The Texas Tribune for more than thirteen years and spent almost eighteen years at Texas Monthly, including nine years as editor in chief. He is also the host of the interview programme Overheard with Evan Smith. Seabourn and The Atlantic first announced their partnership earlier in 2026, with the aim of developing curated editorial programming and exclusive experiences across selected voyages.

Further events are planned for 2027, while one of the key highlights of the collaboration will take place in 2028, when Seabourn celebrates its 40th anniversary. On October 4, 2028, Seabourn Quest will depart on the 12-day “With The Atlantic: A Seabourn Conversations Exclusive” voyage. The sailing will feature a dedicated editorial programme developed jointly with The Atlantic and inspired by the spirit of The Atlantic Festival, combining journalism, cultural discussion and conversations with leading figures from a variety of fields.

The partnership will extend beyond live events. Guests on selected voyages will also have access to digital content from The Atlantic, while curated libraries across the Seabourn fleet will feature recent issues of the magazine alongside books by both contemporary and historic Atlantic writers. This is perhaps the most convincing aspect of the collaboration: rather than limiting the partnership to a series of guest appearances, Seabourn is integrating editorial content into the wider onboard experience. In this sense, the initiative feels like a natural evolution of the brand’s approach to enrichment, adding substance to the journey without taking anything away from the relaxed and refined atmosphere that defines the Seabourn product.
