“Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston” will be one of the headline productions aboard Norwegian Aura, the new Norwegian Cruise Line ship set to debut in May 2027. Developed in partnership with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music, the production will be at the heart of a wide-ranging entertainment program aboard the cruise line’s new flagship, featuring major shows, live music, immersive theater and late-night experiences.

Houston and Primary Wave Music, the new production celebrates Whitney Houston’s extraordinary career through contemporary arrangements, dynamic storytelling and immersive stagecraft. It pays tribute to the voice and charisma of an artist who left an indelible mark on the history of international music, transforming some of her most celebrated songs into a spectacular live experience.
With more than 220 million records sold worldwide, seven consecutive No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and six Grammy Awards, Houston remains one of the most influential figures in pop music. The show will bring some of her most iconic hits to the ship, including “It’s Not Right, But It’s OK,” “I Will Always Love You” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” the latter certified nine-times platinum by the RIAA and named the best pop song of all time by Billboard in 2023.
Running for 45 minutes, “Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston” will take place in the Aura Theatre & Club, a three-story venue. Live vocals and music, a live band, visual effects and performances extending beyond the main stage will come together to create an immersive experience designed to capture the energy and impact of a live performance.
Alongside the Whitney Houston production, Norwegian Aura will feature a wide-ranging entertainment program developed exclusively for the ship, with productions designed to engage different audiences and entertain guests throughout the day and into the evening.
Among the highlights is “ILLUMINOX: Infinite Wonder Unboxed™”, a 45-minute theatrical production combining large-scale illusions, acrobatics, original music and visual effects. A fast-paced journey staged in the Aura Theatre & Club, the show places curiosity, surprise and wonder at the heart of the experience.
Music will take center stage with “The Vinyl Republic™”, NCL’s new live music collective inspired by the culture and legacy of vinyl records. From country and rock to funk, blues and pop, the band will deliver high-energy performances across a variety of formats. At the Aura Theatre & Club, guests will enjoy two signature experiences: “The Vinyl Republic’s Journey Through Rock,” celebrating Journey’s greatest hits and the arena rock era, and “The Vinyl Republic’s Kickin’ It Country™,” a lively late-night country party featuring today’s biggest hits and interactive line dancing.
The musical experience will extend beyond the theater, with The Vinyl Republic bringing live performances to venues throughout the ship, from the Penrose Atrium to Improv at Sea, transforming Norwegian Aura’s spaces into stages for an ever-changing lineup of live music.
Also returning is “LunaTique: Pop Circus™,” the immersive adults-only show combining cabaret, circus arts and late-night entertainment. Following its debut aboard Norwegian Luna™, the production will move to the Aura Theatre & Club with new acts and new music. Available for an additional fee, the experience also pairs each performance with specially selected cocktails, creating a format that combines live entertainment with the atmosphere of a cocktail party.
Rounding out the program will be “Aura FIRST NIGHT™,” a welcome show introducing guests to the ship’s entertainment lineup, and “Latin LIVE!™,” a lively poolside celebration featuring live percussionists, vocalists, dance performances and major Latin music hits.
This diverse entertainment offering will accompany Norwegian Aura’s debut with experiences spread across the theater, public spaces and outdoor areas of the ship, combining major productions, live music, immersive experiences and late-night entertainment.
The inaugural season of Norwegian Aura will begin in the Mediterranean. On May 21, 2027, the new ship will depart from Trieste for a seven-day cruise to Barcelona, with calls in Valletta, Malta, as well as Salerno and Rome (Civitavecchia). From Barcelona, Norwegian Aura will then sail to Miami on a 13-day transatlantic crossing ahead of the start of her Caribbean season.
From June 2027, Miami will become the ship’s homeport, with seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries running through October. The program will include calls at Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas, which has recently undergone a major enhancement and will feature the new Great Tides Waterpark.
During the winter 2027/28 season, Norwegian Aura will shift to the Western Caribbean, offering seven-day cruises to destinations including Roatán (Islas de la Bahía), Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Harvest Caye, NCL’s resort-style private destination off the coast of Belize.
