Margaritaville at Sea has chosen a name perfectly in tune with its own DNA to accompany the debut of the new Beachcomber: Zac Brown, the multi-platinum artist and three-time GRAMMY Award winner, will serve as the ship’s Godfather, its official ceremonial sponsor. The christening is scheduled to take place in Miami on January 9, 2027, when Brown will take part in the inaugural ceremony and also perform onboard in a special show for guests before the maiden voyage departs.

This is anything but a casual choice, as the relationship between the singer and Margaritaville at Sea has steadily grown stronger in recent months, evolving into a genuine creative partnership. Brown has in fact contributed to the development of Same Boat, Beachcomber’s new live music venue, a space the company describes as the first music venue at sea created together with an artist. The name recalls the Zac Brown Band song “Same Boat” and also carries a direct connection to Jimmy Buffett, who appeared on the deluxe edition of The Comeback and with whom Brown had built an important artistic and personal relationship over the years. Same Boat will therefore be much more than just another onboard stage, instead becoming one of the defining features of the new ship: Zac Brown has contributed to the design, decorative artwork and music programming, while during the inaugural season the venue will host a rotating lineup of artists and live performances.

His appointment as Godfather is therefore a further step in a partnership that is developing both at sea and on land. Margaritaville at Sea is in fact the presenting sponsor of the Zac Brown Band’s 27-date U.S. Love & Fear tour, and the collaboration had already drawn attention last August at Fenway Park, when Brown, on the occasion of the band’s 15th consecutive sold-out show at Boston’s historic stadium, gifted a Margaritaville at Sea cruise to each of the more than 35,000 fans in attendance, for a declared total value of around $43 million. The relationship between the artist and the company will then have another symbolic moment on January 28, 2027, when Brown will headline an exclusive concert in Nassau during the first gathering of the Margaritaville at Sea fleet with Beachcomber, Islander and Paradise.

“What I love most is knowing that people are going to step onboard with their families and friends, have an amazing time and create memories that will stay with them forever,” Zac Brown said in commenting on the appointment, neatly capturing the spirit the company wants to associate with the new ship. Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, also underlined that the choice is a natural evolution of the existing partnership, highlighting shared values tied to music, togetherness and the ability to turn a vacation into a memorable experience.

Beachcomber will officially enter service from PortMiami in January 2027 and will introduce more than 15 new venues and spaces, alongside some of the concepts already familiar to the company’s guests. During its inaugural season, it will offer itineraries ranging from four to eight nights in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean, before repositioning to Galveston in October 2027, from where it will offer a broader program to Mexico and the Western Caribbean. Zac Brown’s appointment as Godfather therefore seems to go well beyond a simple ceremonial role: Margaritaville at Sea is building around Beachcomber an identity strongly tied to music, conviviality and an informal way of experiencing a cruise, and entrusting the christening of the new ship to an artist already deeply involved in the project appears to be a natural consequence of that direction.
