Windstar announces its first Mystery Cruise

Windstar Cruises, a leading luxury cruise company specializing in small ships, is thrilled to announce its inaugural “President’s Mystery Cruise” set to depart on April 19, 2025.

The eight-day journey is exclusively designed for members of the Windstar Yacht Club (the esteemed regular guests of the company) and their friends, commencing and concluding in Athens. The remaining ports of call along the itinerary will remain a mystery to guests aboard the Star Legend, the ship comprised solely of suites accommodating up to 312 passengers.

Travel destinations will be kept secret until 24 hours prior to the scheduled arrival at each port. Once the new port of arrival is revealed, Windstar guests can choose from a variety of different onshore excursions.

Windstar asserts that Star Legend travelers will encounter new and exciting experiences during this voyage. “Most of the ports of call will be destinations we’ve never been to before,” stated Windstar Cruises‘ President Christopher Prelog.

Onboard the Star Legend, guests will also have the opportunity to meet Prelog, as this “Mystery Cruise” coincides with the company’s popular annual Presidential’s Cruise, where guests can get to know the leadership of this small cruise company that adopts the motto of “doing things 180 degrees from ordinary.”

“The company is keeping the itinerary secret from me as well,” confesses Prelog. “They know I’m enthusiastic about things and can’t help but share; I can’t wait to discover where we will go together with the guests on board.”

Speaking about this innovative new concept, Prelog mentions that the idea was inspired by Windstar’s recent 11-day cruise aboard the Star Breeze, which originally included stops in Tahiti and the Tuamotu Islands. Just two days before departure, Tropical Cyclone Nat led to a drastic change in the planned itinerary, prompting quick action from the onboard team to create an entirely new route to avoid the adverse weather. The positive response from guests, who demonstrated a keen sense of adventure, led Windstar to propose this idea again, giving birth to the “Mystery Cruise” concept.

“It’s like awakening the sense of adventure again, which is what travel should always do,” said Prelog. “It’s something different, something truly interesting. It’s a cruise for guests who love adventure and don’t want to plan anything.”

The rendezvous for adventurous passengers is confirmed in Athens on April 19, 2025.
