Silver Wind: An Iconic Passage in the Heart of London

On Sunday late afternoon, Silver Wind, a Silversea vessel, sailed along the River Thames passing beneath the iconic Tower Bridge at the end of a 12-day cruise from Lisbon. The event drew the attention of onlookers and cruise enthusiasts alike, turning the river into a true urban stage.

Silver Wind enjoyed an exceptional stay in central London, remaining berthed near Tower Bridge until approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening. This is set to be a unique appearance for several years, as the ship is not expected to return to this central area of the British capital in the near future. The passage offered spectacular views of the Thames and a cinematic atmosphere, with the ship gliding slowly between the city’s historic buildings.

After its London call, Silver Wind resumed its voyage towards Edinburgh, continuing on to increasingly northern itineraries including Iceland and Arctic regions. This route confirms the vessel’s strong expedition focus, aimed at remote destinations with remarkable landscapes.

Silver Wind’s journey is part of a broader deployment plan that also includes Silversea’s “Antarctica Fly Cruise” itineraries starting in October. This concept combines air and sea travel, offering more direct access to Antarctica. At the same time, Silversea is strengthening its presence in extreme destinations with new services and infrastructure dedicated to expedition travellers. Among these is the opening of “The Cormorant at 55 South” in Puerto Williams, Chile, set to become a key hub for Antarctic cruises.

The Silver Wind’s passage in London highlights Silversea’s philosophy of delivering immersive experiences across more than 900 destinations worldwide. The brand’s expedition cruises blend cultural discovery, nature, and access to some of the most remote places on Earth, from polar regions to the farthest corners of the continents. This approach transforms each journey into a narrative experience, where the ship is not merely transport but an integral part of discovering the world.
