Sarah Wikevand will be Godmother of Emerald Azzurra

Swiss-based Emerald Cruises has named Sarah Wikevand, managing director of ROL Cruise, as godmother of its first ocean-going superyacht, Emerald Azzurra, the company announced today. The official naming ceremony for the 100-guest superyacht will take place in Venice on 28 May, 2022.

Emerald Cruises describes ROL Cruise as one of the top performing agents for superyacht cruises and instrumental in the success of launching Emerald Azzura. In her role as managing director or ROL Cruise, Wikevand is a highly regarded and well-respected cruise industry advocate.

Rob Voss, chief operating officer of the Scenic Group, which includes Emerald Cruises and Scenic, expressed delight at having Wikevand godmother Emerald Azzurra, stressing the cruise line’s continued support of UK travel agents. “She is a wonderful advocate for the cruising market and her dedication reflects our own commitment to growing this remarkable industry,” Voss added.

David Winterton, Emerald Cruises’ global director of brand & marketing, highlighted that Wikevand is the third UK travel agent Godmother in Emerald Cruises’ fleet. “We’re thrilled that Sarah has graciously accepted to be Godmother to Emerald Azzurra and we’re honoured to continue this tradition showing our dedication to our partners.”

In her role at ROL Cruise, Wikevand has been working with the Emerald Cruises team for over six years now and affirmed her appreciation for being selected as the godmother of the line’s newest superyacht. “It is an honour to work closely with the team on such a monumental milestone for Emerald Cruises,” said Wikevand.

Emerald Azzurra, which debuted on 12 March and is currently sailing an eight-day itinerary in Croatia, carries 100 guests in 50 deluxe staterooms and suites. The custom-built vessel features a variety of public areas including an infinity-style pool, Wellness Centre with an infrared sauna, and a marina platform for easy access to watersports and activities such as electric bikes and stand-up paddleboards.

Emerald Azzurra will be joined by sister yacht Emerald Sakara in 2023, with itineraries to the Middle East and Mediterranean on sale now.
