Royal takes over Wonder of the Seas!


Royal Caribbean International has taken delivery of Wonder of the Seas, the highly anticipated and innovative ship in the award-winning cruise line. Marking the completion of three years of construction, a traditional flag change ceremony with shipyard partner Chantiers de l’Atlantique was held in Marseille, France.

Wonder of the Seas will make its official debut in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on March 4, to begin sailing seven-night Caribbean cruises before heading to Barcelona, Spain; and Rome to offer summer adventures in the Mediterranean.

Welcoming her into the Royal Caribbean family were Royal Caribbean Group chairman Richard Fain, Royal Caribbean Group president and CEO Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean International president and CEO Michael Bayley and Laurent Castaing, general manager, Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France.

Wonder of the Seas will energize cruising in a bolder, bigger way. The addition of this ship to our already best-in-class fleet elevates the company to continue to lead the industry with new features and innovations,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. “This is another way we are responsibly delivering world-class, memorable vacations to guests around the world.”

The combination of brand-new features and attractions spanning excitement, entertainment, dining and nightlife is unmatched, and is what will make our newest and most innovative ship the ultimate wonder of the world and the ultimate vacation in the Caribbean and Europe.”

Wonder of the Seas reserves adventures in eight unique neighborhoods for vacationers of all ages. Some of the highlights include the Suite Neighborhood, the new, eighth neighborhood that offers Royal Suite Class guests an elevated Sun Deck Suite in a new location, complete with a pool, bar and plenty of loungers and nooks and crannies to relax in, along with favorites like Coastal Kitchen, the private restaurant the Suite Lounge and the larger Ultimate Family Suite; as well as the Wonder Playscape, the underwater-themed children’s play area is a whole new adventure with slides, climbing walls, games, an interactive touch-activated mural and imaginative puzzles; El Loco Fresh and Cantina Fresca, The takeaway for Mexican delicacies and much more.

Classics aboard Wonder of the Seas include Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, an Italian trattoria; the tallest sea waterslide, The Ultimate Abyss; newly designed kids’ and teens’ spaces at Adventure Ocean, Social100 and The Patio; the FlowRider surf simulator; rock climbing walls; the Central Park neighborhood lined with more than 20,000 real plants; and more.
