Royal Caribbean forms a solidarity partnership

Ahead of the European debut of the new Legend of the Seas, scheduled for July 2026, Royal Caribbean has announced a partnership with the Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.

The collaboration will accompany the onboard debut of the famous Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and will be aimed at raising funds to support the charity’s specialist nurses.

The initiative, launched on the occasion of National Paediatric Nurses Day on June 30, aims to highlight the work of the “Roald Dahl Nurses”, professionals who in the United Kingdom care for more than 50,000 children affected by serious and chronic conditions and support their families.

During the inaugural European season of Legend of the Seas, guests will be able to contribute through onboard donations and fundraising initiatives. The funds raised will support a network of over 250 specialist nurses working within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), providing medical care, care coordination, as well as emotional and practical support to families.

Gerard Nolan, Vice President and Managing Director for the EMEA region of Royal Caribbean, emphasized that for a brand always committed to creating unforgettable family holidays, the partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity represents a particularly meaningful initiative. According to Nolan, the arrival onboard of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory makes this partnership a natural fit on the occasion of the European debut of Royal Caribbean’s new family holiday experience. He also expressed the company’s pride in being able to support the valuable work of the charity’s nurses through fundraising activities and initiatives dedicated to their community.

To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Royal Caribbean will host a group of nurses from the charity on a special four-night preview cruise aboard Legend of the Seas, before the ship’s official debut on July 4. The experience will offer them an opportunity for leisure and relaxation, with the chance to enjoy a holiday experience focused on entertainment and well-being together with their families.

Louise Griew, Chief Executive of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, highlighted the essential role played by the charity’s nurses, who every day make a difference in the lives of children with complex conditions and their families. Griew also stressed that the partnership with Royal Caribbean will make it possible to raise essential funds to support an increasing number of families, while also helping to recognise the commitment, dedication, and professionalism of the organisation’s nursing staff.

Legend of the Seas will offer a family-oriented experience, featuring eight themed neighbourhoods, more than 40 dining, entertainment and leisure experiences, and activities for all ages. At the end of its inaugural European season, the ship will reposition to Fort Lauderdale in November 2026 to launch itineraries in the Western and Southern Caribbean, including stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay, the brand’s most popular private destination in the Bahamas.
