Princess Cruises is stepping up its digital innovation efforts by bringing vacation planning directly into ChatGPT. The company is the first cruise line to launch a native app on the artificial intelligence platform, introducing a new way to explore itineraries, ships, destinations, pricing, and availability.

The goal is to make choosing a cruise simpler and more intuitive by leveraging the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) and allowing travelers to interact with the app using everyday language.

With the native Princess app for LLMs, ChatGPT can now connect directly to the trusted information and services available through the Princess Cruises website, giving users direct access to information and services within the company’s digital ecosystem. Once the app is installed and users invoke it with the @princesscruises tag, they can ask ChatGPT to find itineraries based on destination, trip length, and travel dates, compare ships and cruises, or check up-to-date pricing and availability.

The platform allows travelers to explore more than 330 destinations aboard 17 ships, progressively narrowing their search based on their preferences. All of this can take place within the same conversation, without having to repeat information that has already been provided. For example, a traveler interested in Alaska can start by asking which cruises are available and then continue by asking which itineraries include a visit to Glacier Bay National Park, which ones depart from Seattle, or what the differences are between two options.

The new solution is therefore designed to transform a conversation with artificial intelligence into a genuine planning journey. It is not simply about obtaining information, but about progressively refining the search until travelers can identify the option that best meets their needs.

Within the same conversation, travelers can progressively refine their search, identifying cruises based on destination, travel date, and trip length, while comparing itineraries and ships across the Princess fleet. They can also explore the various options available in greater detail, from ports of call and shore excursions to cruisetours, onboard experiences, and packages, while checking prices and availability in real time. The search can ultimately be further personalized according to each traveler’s individual preferences and needs.

According to Neena Vicente, Vice President of Digital Commerce and Experience at Princess Cruises, the way consumers discover and organize their travel is changing. Generative artificial intelligence is increasingly being used not only to search for information, but also to evaluate alternatives and navigate the planning of complex trips. For Princess, the integration with ChatGPT therefore represents a new gateway to the world of cruising and another step toward what the company describes as “agentic commerce” in the travel industry.

The initiative is part of a broader transformation in the way travelers search for and purchase travel products. Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a tool not only for obtaining answers, but also for comparing options and creating personalized itineraries.

The Princess Cruises app will initially be available through ChatGPT, while the company plans to expand its presence to other compatible artificial intelligence platforms in the future, subject to availability and the relevant technical requirements.

With this new application, Princess Cruises is bringing AI technology directly into the cruise-selection process. From the initial search through to comparing itineraries and checking prices and availability, the entire journey can be built through a single, ongoing conversation. The strategy confirms the company’s commitment to investing in new digital tools and engaging with the habits of a generation of travelers increasingly drawn to personalized, immediate, and interactive search experiences.
