Ponant: Le Commandant Charcot at the North Pole

Le Commandant Charcot reached the geographic North Pole for the first time with Captain Étienne Garcia at the helm, accompanied by Captain Marchesseau.

This is the first time a French ship has reached the North Pole (90,00,000°).

“It is a source of great pride to have been at the helm of the first French ship to reach the geographic North Pole, the culmination of a collective adventure undertaken by PONANT for many years. I would like to thank the entire crew and crew for making this project possible,” said Captain Étienne Garcia.

Le Commandant Charcot has been designed with the utmost attention to detail in terms of safety and respect for the environment, in fact it uses liquefied natural gas, the first ship to use it to reach this destination. At the same time it welcomes its guests in a refined environment with luxury services proposing a completely innovative cruise project.
