Norwegian Prima: Katy Perry will be the godmother

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced that world-renowned pop icon and “American Idol” judge Katy Perry will be the godmother of the all-new record-breaking ship, Norwegian Prima, which will debut in August 2022.

Katy Perry will welcome Norwegian Prima, the first of six Prima Class ships, at a majestic event in Reykjavík, Iceland on August 27, 2022, making her the first cruise ship to be christened in the Icelandic capital. Respecting a centuries-old tradition, the launch will take place through the ceremonial breaking of a bottle of champagne on the bow to wish the ship and its travelers good luck.

“We are thrilled to welcome Katy Perry, her one-of-a-kind and world-renowned artist, as the godmother of Norwegian Prima,” said Harry Sommer, NCL President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are so incredibly proud to have her as a member of the Norwegian Cruise Line family and look forward to launching our beautiful and innovative ship with her in August.”

“My favorite way to spend the holidays with my family is at sea. Every morning you wake up and you can discover an amazing new landscape”, said Katy Perry.” I love that I am given the chance to baptize her with my positive vibes, and I am so excited for this new, beautiful high-end ship and high-tech, which will soon take to the sea to offer unforgettable holidays to many families “.

The spectacular ship, built in Marghera (Venice), by Fincantieri, promises to be a turning point for Norwegian Cruise Line, offering guests exciting itineraries, larger spaces, careful design and a surprising variety of new experiences in addition to the exceptional Norwegian service.

World-class architects who contributed to Norwegian Prima‘s design include Italian designer Piero Lissoni. On board, guests can take refuge on Ocean Boulevard, featuring multiple infinity pools and Oceanwalk glass decks with stunning views, visit Indulge, the brand’s first outdoor dining venue featuring top-tier international cuisine, or relax on The Concourse, an open-air sculpture garden boasting “instagrammable” installations by famous artists David Harber and Alexander Krivosheiw, not forgetting the ship’s refurbished luxurious suite complex, The Haven By Norwegian.

Norwegian Prima, departing in August 2022, will offer maiden voyages to Northern Europe from Southampton (England), Amsterdam and Reykjavík (Iceland), starting August 12; Bermuda from New York City starting October 6 and Caribbean itineraries from Galveston, Texas and Miami starting October 27.
