During the five days of the event, FITUR 2026 surpassed 255,000 total visitors, reinforcing the strong numbers of previous editions. The professional days saw 155,000 attendees, consolidating the results from 2025 and highlighting a significant increase in international participation. In particular, a 12% rise in foreign visitors was accompanied by an 11% growth in international exhibitors, reflecting the growing global interest in the fair. Over the weekend, the public opening attracted around 100,000 visitors, further solidifying the connection between the event and the general public.
Participation data confirms FITUR as one of the world’s leading tourism industry trade fairs. The 2026 edition featured over 10,000 companies from 161 countries, with 111 nations officially represented and 967 main exhibitors. This broad international representation generated an estimated economic impact of 505 million euros for Madrid, while supporting the maintenance of 3,753 jobs. These results strengthen FITUR’s position as one of the most important international events of the year for the region, as well as a key driver for economic and tourism activity.
The successful conclusion of FITUR 2026 comes amid favorable global trends for international tourism. According to UN Tourism data, international tourist arrivals worldwide exceeded 1.5 billion in 2025, while Spain welcomed 97 million international tourists, as reported by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. In this growth environment, FITUR opened 2026 by confirming the sector’s dynamism and offering a prime platform for analyzing trends and future prospects.

The institutional importance of FITUR 2026 was underscored from the opening. The 46th edition began with a minute of silence to show solidarity with the victims of recent train accidents, a gesture reflecting the sensitivity of the tourism sector. The official inauguration, presided over by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, further enhanced the fair’s institutional profile, as did the more than 70 visits by regional presidents, ministers, and vice ministers of tourism from various countries. These meetings confirmed FITUR as a space for international dialogue and cooperation.
High participation translated into intense activity across the nine exhibition halls, where destinations, businesses, and institutions showcased new proposals, strategies, and projects. A central role was played by the Knowledge Hub, which hosted eight auditoriums, ten conference programs, more than 200 sessions, and over 250 speakers during the professional days, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and addressing key sector challenges.
Meanwhile, the specialized sections expanded and diversified FITUR’s overall offering. FITUR 4all promoted accessible and inclusive tourism, FITUR Cruises highlighted sustainable blue tourism, and the launch of FITUR Experience, alongside FITUR Lingua and FITUR LGTB+, catered to segments with strong growth potential. FITUR Screen, Sports, Talent, and TechY facilitated the convergence of tourism, culture, sports, talent, and technology, while FITUR Woman focused on female leadership in the industry. FITUR Know-How & Export showcased the international experience of Spanish companies.
