Explora Journeys: Coin Ceremony for Explora II

The Coin Ceremony was held today at Fincantieri in Sestri Ponente for Explora II, the second ship in Explora Journeys luxury fleet.

Further progress has been made in the construction of Explora Journeys’ second vessel, following the plate cutting in Castellammare di Stabia in October 2021. Explora II will enter service in 2024, offering summer itineraries in the Mediterranean. Msc Group’s investment in the Explora Journeys brand includes an order for two more ships, both planned to be built in Genoa, and an additional option to increase the fleet to six vessels.

The ships, characterized by modern and innovative design, will offer a style of cruising based on comfort and luxury but also on relaxing and in-depth cultural experiences that will provide unique experiences on each individual itinerary. It will take another year of work at Fincantieri to complete this second jewel of the fleet, sister ship of Explora I, scheduled to debut this summer from Southampton on itineraries exploring Northern Europe.

Next-generation materials, cutting-edge technology and respect for the environment are the main features of the new brand, which will offer a cruise concept dedicated to physical and mental renewal, enveloping guests in an environment that from gastronomy to entertainment and excursions will serve to regenerate body and spirit.

Explora II will offer 461 spacious sea-view suites, all with private terraces and large outdoor spaces. With a guest-to-crew ratio of 1.25 to 1, it will ensure prompt service at all times, tailored to meet guests’ needs in all aspects. On board you will have nine different restaurants, bars and lounges, a beautiful spa with indoor and outdoor spaces, a fitness area also integrated into the Ocean State of Mind concept.
