Emerald Cruises: Technical Launch of Emerald Sakara

Emerald Cruises is celebrating its new luxury yacht, Emerald Sakara, which touched the water for the first time during its technical launch in Ha Long Bay ahead of upcoming sea trials.

Emerald Sakara will debut in three months with the eight-day “Ionian Sea Adventure” itinerary, departing August 5, 2023.

Custom-built at The Halong Shipbuilding Company in Vietnam, Emerald Sakara is the second luxury yacht to join the Emerald Cruises fleet, following the launch of sister yacht Emerald Azzurra in March 2022.

“Our Director of Product Design, Karen Moroney, and I have been overseeing the design and construction of Emerald Sakara, and after a recent visit to the shipyard, we can say that it has exceeded our expectations”, said Glen Moroney, President and Founder of The Scenic Group, parent company of Emerald Cruises.

With only 50 luxurious suites and staterooms, most with private balconies or terraces, Emerald Sakara accommodates 100 guests per voyage and offers a new kind of exclusive cruising experience, exploring ports only accessible to small yachts.

Onboard, the wellness center is complete with spa, gym and state-of-the-art infrared sauna, while the Sky Bar, infinity pool and comfortable public areas are perfect for relaxing and taking in the scenery. The yacht’s marine platform is designed for water sports, including swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, SEABOB exploration and even an aquatic trampoline.

Following its debut in August, Emerald Sakara will begin a summer season exploring the clear coastal waters of Italy, Greece, Turkey and the Adriatic. It will then head to the Caribbean and Central America, with its first voyage to the Eastern Caribbean and the Grenadines is scheduled for November 17, 2023.

The inaugural eight-day Ionian itinerary, sailing from Rome (Civitavecchia) to Athens (Pireaus), offers guests the opportunity to take a guided walking tour of Capri, sample the famous Sorrento ice cream in one of the seaside towns or even admire the colorful mountain houses of Amalfi on a kayak tour of the coast. Other tempting excursions include the chance to river tub in the Alcantara Gorges, hike through the olive groves of Kefalonia, and travel back to ancient Greece with a tour of the ruins of Delphi.
