Emerald Cruises Celebrates Two Major Milestones

Emerald Cruises has celebrated two significant milestones marking a new chapter for its luxury fleet: the launch of Emerald Kaia, the next-generation superyacht, which successfully completed its maiden voyage through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal from Limassol, Cyprus, and the recent river trials of Emerald Astra, the new Emerald Star-Ship, set to enter service on the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers starting in May 2026.

Glen Moroney, Chairman and Founder of Scenic Group, emphasized that the launch of Emerald Kaia and the upcoming inauguration of Emerald Astra represent key milestones for the company, which is celebrating 40 years of innovation in travel. Moroney highlighted that Scenic Group is the only cruise company to design, build, and operate its own ships, continuously setting new standards in luxury cruising both at sea and on rivers, driven by technical excellence and a commitment to delivering extraordinary guest experiences.

Emerald Kaia combines the signature relaxed luxury of Emerald Cruises & Tours with an even more refined design. The interiors feature a curated selection of contemporary art and bespoke finishes by Tom Dixon, Missoni, Freifrau, Paola Lenti, and Kettal, creating elegant and welcoming spaces. Expansive outdoor areas invite guests to relax and connect with the sea and coastline during days at sea.

Dining options on board are meticulously designed. The main restaurant, La Cucina, features an open kitchen allowing guests to interact with chefs, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Soleá Bar & Bistro, located next to the Vitality Pool, serves Mediterranean cuisine in an elegant yet informal setting, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with panoramic sea views. The intimate Night Market Grill offers a private experience for up to eight guests, celebrating flavors inspired by Asian local markets.

The renewed Wellness Deck offers a holistic approach to relaxation, featuring KLAFS salt therapy lounges, a cold plunge pool, and a full-service spa with a wide range of luxury treatments. Guests can move freely between the fitness areas, Marina Platform, and a self-service beverage area, fostering moments of calm and connection.

Emerald Kaia ultimately blends elegance and functionality, offering spacious suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and interconnecting suites designed for families and groups. The combination of privacy and shared spaces reflects a guest-centric design philosophy, ensuring comfort, flexibility, and a personalized experience on board.

James Griffiths, General Manager of Ocean Operations at Scenic Group, highlighted that Emerald Kaia represents a new phase in the evolution of Emerald Yacht Cruises, offering larger spaces, enhanced wellness features, innovative dining experiences, and a carefully curated yacht experience. Every element on board is designed to maintain the intimate and relaxed atmosphere valued by guests, and the start of operations with the first passengers confirms that this fleet evolution is the right choice for the brand.

During the Mediterranean summers of 2026 and 2027, Emerald Kaia will sail the Adriatic Sea, with eight- and fifteen-day itineraries between Venice and Dubrovnik, including the option to dock in the heart of Venice. The 128-guest luxury yacht will then move to the Indian Ocean, exploring the Seychelles from December 2026 to March 2027. Among the most requested journeys, the 16-day Safari & Seychelles voyage combines Seychelles cruises with safaris in the Masai Mara, Samburu Reserve, and Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya, with new dates added to meet growing demand. Emerald Kaia will be joined by sister ships Emerald Raiya in 2027 and Emerald Xara in 2028, expanding the fleet to five vessels alongside Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara, with cruises in the Mediterranean, Seychelles, and Caribbean.

The debut of Emerald Kaia coincides with the successful river trials of the brand-new Emerald Star-Ship, Emerald Astra, which will join the fleet in May 2026, bringing Emerald Cruises’ new design philosophy to Europe’s most iconic rivers. In 2027, the brand’s river expansion will continue with the arrival of two additional ships: Emerald Lumi, which will sail the Seine River in France, and Emerald Nova, destined for Portugal’s Douro Valley.

With the launch of Emerald Kaia and the imminent arrival of Emerald Astra, Emerald Cruises celebrates two key milestones marking a new phase of growth and innovation for its luxury fleet, continuing to offer unforgettable experiences and exclusive itineraries both at sea and on the world’s most iconic rivers.
