Crystal Symphony successfully completes sea trials

Crystal Symphony, the second ship by Crystal to resume operations following the recent return of Crystal Serenity, has successfully completed sea trials in anticipation of its inaugural cruise from Athens, Greece, on September 1st.

Currently in the final stages of an extensive refurbishment at the Fincantieri shipyard in Trieste, Italy, the ship carried a full contingent of officers, technicians, and engineers who thoroughly tested the ship’s navigation, technical, and mechanical systems. Everything passed successfully during the inspection.

“After the launch of Crystal Serenity on July 31st, we are thrilled that Crystal Symphony has completed sea trials and is getting closer to returning to service in just a few weeks,” stated Roberto Fazi, Senior Vice President of Marine Operations. “Being able to restart our brand and two ships in such a short time is unprecedented, and we couldn’t have done it without the extraordinary work of our leaders and teams, both on board and ashore. If we have achieved this milestone, it is also thanks to our partners at Fincantieri who worked day and night to deliver this beautiful ship on time.”When passengers step on board for the first time, they will find updated and more spacious suites with artisanal finishes, as well as renovated specialty restaurants, including the new Osteria d’Ovidio, which pays homage to Crystal‘s Executive Chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, and his family’s heritage from Northern Italy. They will also be welcomed with redesigned wellness services, including the fully refurbished and renamed Aurōra Spa, and a new pickleball court on board. What hasn’t changed is the exceptional service and one of the best guest-to-staff ratios in the industry, as assured by the company’s top management. Entertainment, among other things, remains a key focus for the company’s relaunch.

After the inaugural cruise from Athens, Crystal Symphony will spend the rest of the summer in Europe before moving to Africa in October and then hosting voyages in Australia and Asia. We are eagerly anticipating its debut in Athens. For more information, tips, and reviews about the Crystal Cruises fleet, visit Cruising Journal, with photos, videos, and discounted cruises.
