Aman at Sea has announced the appointment of Ertan Vasvi as Captain of Amangati, the group’s first luxury ocean-going motor yacht, which is scheduled to make its debut in May 2027. The appointment marks another milestone in the vessel’s preparation, as construction continues at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa ahead of its inaugural sailing season.

Born from a joint venture between Aman and Cruise Saudi, Amangati has been conceived to bring the Aman philosophy to the sea, with a focus on space, privacy and tranquillity. Positioned between the world of luxury cruising and private superyacht charters, the yacht aims to offer an exclusive experience, combining an intimate guest capacity with a highly personalised level of service.

With nearly 20 years of experience in luxury yachting and expedition cruising, Ertan Vasvi will be responsible for all nautical and marine operations aboard the yacht. His role has already begun during the final stages of construction and will continue through preparations for the inaugural season. His responsibilities will also include selecting and training the deck and bridge teams who will welcome the first guests on board.

Vasvi began his career with Silversea in 2009, where he remained until 2018, initially serving as Officer of the Watch and Safety Officer. He subsequently became Staff Captain, taking on responsibilities for nautical and deck operations across both the expedition and traditional fleets.

In 2018, he joined Seabourn as Staff Captain. From 2021, he spent two years in Genoa, where he led shore-based deck, nautical and expedition operations during the construction and delivery of two new vessels. In this role, he oversaw the delivery of both ships and led their respective inaugural programmes. He has held the position of Captain since 2023. Vasvi also holds a master’s degree from the Naval Academy of the Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria.

The Captain described Amangati as an entirely new concept, positioned between traditional cruising and private superyacht charter, requiring a distinctive approach to crew management. He particularly emphasised the importance of combining technical expertise with genuine hospitality, in keeping with the yacht’s limited capacity of 94 guests and the level of service it is designed to provide. Vasvi also expressed his enthusiasm at joining the project during the construction phase, ahead of welcoming the first guests in May 2027.

Designed in collaboration with SINOT Yacht Architecture & Design, Amangati is currently under construction at T. Mariotti S.p.A. in Genoa. Measuring 180 metres, or approximately 600 feet, in length and featuring nine decks, the yacht will accommodate a maximum of 94 guests in 47 suites. Each suite will feature a spacious private terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows offering uninterrupted views of the sea.

One of the key features of the project will be the Aman Spa. Spanning 1,190 square metres across two decks, it will be the largest facility of its kind in the luxury yachting sector. The spa will include eight ocean-facing treatment suites, each with a private terrace and an open-air whirlpool. The dining and entertainment offering will centre on four distinctive restaurants, alongside the Jazz Club, Selora and the Marina, providing guests with a variety of settings for different moments of the day, from relaxation to socialising. Further enhancing the onboard experience, each suite will have its own dedicated Suite Host, reflecting the personalised hospitality for which the Aman brand is renowned.

Amangati’s inaugural season will begin on 7 May 2027, departing from Palma de Mallorca, with a series of Mediterranean itineraries. In autumn of the same year, the yacht will head to the Caribbean, where it will launch its programme of regional voyages.
