A-Rosa Sena Celebrates Its First Anniversary

On June 18, A-Rosa Sena, a new ship of A-Rosa River Cruises, celebrated its first anniversary. Since its maiden voyage on the North Rhine, it has visited Cologne, Germany, more than 40 times using the ship’s innovative hybrid propulsion system, which allows for battery-powered, almost emission-free sailing for up to 45 minutes when entering and leaving ports.

Jörg Eichler, CEO of A-ROSA River Cruises comments: “A-Rosa Sena is unlike anything seen before on the rivers of Europe and sets the standard for our next generation of ships. She has had an incredible year already and her unrivalled sustainability credentials show how serious we are on our course towards a sustainable future.”

“In the last year, guests of all ages have been enjoying her unique facilities, many of which have never been seen on a river cruise ship before. It is fascinating that over 650 children have been introduced to river cruising onboard A-Rosa Sena and with the key school holidays approaching, this number will just continue to grow.”

A-Rosa Sena is a ship with relevant features, including spacious family cabins that can accommodate up to five people, a dedicated Kids Club room, a separate children’s pool on the sun deck, and a number of pioneering technologies as part of A-Rosa‘s sustainability journey to protect the environment. Sailing on the North Rhine, the ship visits cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Dordrecht, and also offers themed cruises in March and November.

A-Rosa River Cruises will also be the first river cruise company to offer swimming lessons onboard one of its ships in August, thanks to a partnership with the Wasserlust Swimming School.

Eichler adds: “A-Rosa Sena really is one-of-a-kind, and we had some amazing feedback from our guests on board during the first season, with 95% of guests stating they were satisfied or very satisfied with their trip. It is also wonderful to hear how children have embraced river cruising and all that it offers as a family holiday option.”
