Princess Cruises has announced the signing of three agreements with the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for the construction of three new-generation cruise ships, developed on an innovative technological platform designed to combine advanced design, enhanced comfort, and new ways of experiencing life at sea.
The three vessels, scheduled for delivery at the end of 2035, 2038, and 2039 respectively, will represent the most ambitious project in the company's history, introducing a new generation of ships designed to further enhance destinations, onboard spaces, and the overall guest experience.
The new Voyager Class will blend Princess Cruises’ most recognizable features with a forward-looking design philosophy. Guests will enjoy the cruise line’s most popular venues and experiences, reimagined through completely new concepts, from the open decks and staterooms to the iconic Piazza, the social heart of the ship, redesigned to meet the expectations of an international clientele and adapt to a wide variety of itineraries.
The Voyager Class represents an evolution of the highly acclaimed Sphere Class platform, integrating state-of-the-art technologies to enhance both guest comfort and operational efficiency. Like the recently introduced Sun Princess and Star Princess, the new ships will feature dual-fuel propulsion powered primarily by liquefied natural gas (LNG), one of the most advanced solutions currently available to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize environmental impact compared with conventional marine fuels.
With a gross tonnage of 183,000 and a capacity of approximately 4,700 guests each, the Voyager-class ships will be the largest ever built for the Princess Cruises fleet. Construction will take place at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard, once again highlighting Italy’s excellence in next-generation cruise ship design and construction.

The project is the result of extensive research into customer and industry partner feedback, aiming to strike the perfect balance between evolving the signature features that have defined the Princess brand and introducing innovative concepts and collaborations that will meet future expectations. From dining venues and relaxation areas to swimming pools, entertainment, and completely reimagined public spaces, every aspect of the Princess experience has been redesigned to elevate the onboard journey.

These new orders will ensure production continuity across the group's shipyards through 2039 and will support the growth of the cruise sector as part of Fincantieri's 2026–2030 Industrial Plan. With the construction of the Voyager Class, Fincantieri further strengthens its commitment to developing sustainable next-generation vessels, leveraging its technological expertise while reinforcing its role as a leading industrial partner in the evolution of the global cruise industry.
The contracts for Princess Cruises' next-generation ships represent the 19th, 20th, and 21st LNG-powered vessels ordered by Carnival Corporation and form part of the group's long-term fleet modernization strategy. The initiative is aimed at creating new opportunities in the vacation market while supporting the continued growth of the cruise industry, one of the most dynamic sectors of global tourism.
In addition to the three new Voyager-class ships, scheduled for delivery at the end of 2035, 2038, and 2039, Carnival Corporation has already commissioned seven additional newbuilds with deliveries planned between 2027 and 2033, confirming its long-term investment strategy focused on fleet innovation, improved environmental performance, and strengthening the group's position within the global cruise market.
